The girls and I got up early yesterday in anticipation of driving the 31 mile long Avenue of the Giants (redwoods) from Stanford to Phillipsville Ca.  We started with a good stretch

I wore the iPhone camera out lol sooo many pictures and video clips.  It'll be awhile editing for a complete video.  Word of the day, WOW!!!  So majestic, it took us the better part of the day to cover the 31 miles of the Avenue of the Giants.

Living many years as a youth in the Michigan UP, I've always been fascinated with Paul Bunyan and Babe the blue ox.

Being totally whooped, we enjoyed a simple supper of jalapeño n cheddar sausages, sharp cheddar cheese and Walmart mustard potato salad.  We then promptly crawled under the covers.

Love tater salad. :)

Growing up in lower Michigan we knew of Paul Bunyan and Babe too.

Thanks for the pictures, Bob.  Love those little girls.
Those redwood forests bring back memories for me.  In the late fifties, my uncle owned a logging company.  I remember walking through an area where he was felling redwoods.  I was about ten, but I still remember the pain I suffered because he was cutting down those majestic trees. Thank God he and others like him didn't take them all.

We made it into Oregon and one of the first things I noticed in gas prices, $3.25 to $2.65. :)

Saw some elk today, sat and watched them for 3 hours in the rain as they inched closer.  Maxed out the zoom on the iPhone ::). Thankfully the girls remained silent.

Spending the night at Three Rivers Casino, Florence Oregon.  Very nice and it's free for up to 4 nights.  Must register with security to get placard to display on dash.  Being the off season there's only 5 of us here in the huge RV lot.  Girls and I even have a nice view, life is good.

gas is already super expensive in CA and it's about to get more expensive they are raising the gas tax. the governor wants to raise it even more. I have already seen a 1-2 dollar difference just by crossing the border. CA is out of control, can't wait to say goodbye. highdesertranger
