The coast stays cool during the peak summer months.  My favorite part is in southern Oregon, Brookings up to Coos Bay.   A couple shots I took just north of Brookings at the Natural Bridges turnout.  Parked here overnight a few times without any issues.

I love the area around Flagstaff, AZ, Great weather and close to a big town, but not a big city.

I find it to be just like Lake Tahoe, without the lake.   Great weather, friendly people, and lots of open space.

Excellent choice.

I live in Colorado so I would have to say I'm partial to it. I spend my summers cruising around the different areas here. Bob's right, Leadville is really nice! I love camping between Buena Vista and Leadville in the Arkansas River Headwater area. There is a lot to do there including rafting, hiking, mountain biking and fishing. I'm going to Crestone, Colorado this weekend to hike up to a glacier lake. The San Luis Valley is beautiful with the Great Sand Dunes in view from everywhere in the valley.
