I'm looking for a good sturdy fold-up chair to take with me.&nbsp; I want a normal chair not a recliner, something where I can have half decent posture to read a book or work on a laptop.&nbsp; The main thing is I just don't want it to fall apart, kill my back, or take up a ton of room.&nbsp;&nbsp; Any recommendations ? <br><br>thnx<br><br>

I like the coleman deck chairs, they fold up pretty flat, are light and offer good support. I had one for many years, until&nbsp;some idiot walked with it.<BR><UL class="product-listing with-price"><LI><A href="http://www.coleman.com/coleman/cole...id=2000007752&amp;categoryid=10010&amp;brand=" target=_blank target=_blank><IMG alt="Deck Chair with Swivel Table" src="http://www.coleman.com/coleman/images/Products/2000007752_200.jpg"></A>&nbsp;<DIV class="column left"><IMG style="WIDTH: 226px; HEIGHT: 252px" id=view_large_image title="Marine Deck Chair - Blue" alt="Marine Deck Chair - Blue" src="http://www.coleman.com/coleman/images/products/2125-330_500.JPG" width=319 height=396> </DIV><DIV class="column right" done17="112" done16="115" done15="112" done14="0" done13="0" done12="114" done11="112" done8="112">Next time I go to camping world, I'm looking at one of these.&nbsp; I've seen something similar that was really durable and very comfy</DIV><LI><DIV class="column right" done17="112" done16="115" done15="112" done14="0" done13="0" done12="114" done11="112" done8="112"><A style="POSITION: relative" id=RbZoom_946575 class=RbZoom href="http://images.campingworld.com/is/i...42,.4&amp;opac=20&amp;align=0,-1&amp;hei=1000" rel=thumbs:Thumbs target=_blank target=_blank><IMG id=SImg_946575 border=0 alt="Club Chair" src="http://images.campingworld.com/is/i....1&amp;posN=.42,.4&amp;opac=20&amp;align=0,-1"> <DIV style="Z-INDEX: 100; POSITION: absolute; WIDTH: 400px; HEIGHT: 400px; VISIBILITY: hidden; OVERFLOW: hidden; TOP: -10000px; LEFT: -10000px" id=ZCont_946575 class=RbZoomImageCont><IMG id=ZImg_946575 src="http://images.campingworld.com/is/i...42,.4&amp;opac=20&amp;align=0,-1&amp;hei=1000"></DIV><IMG style="POSITION: absolute; FILTER: alpha(Opacity=50); TOP: 162px; LEFT: 162px; opacity: 0.5; -moz-opacity: 0.5; -html-opacity: 0.5" src="http://www.campingworld.com/images/throbber.gif"></A> <BR><DIV align=center><DIV style="DISPLAY: block; VISIBILITY: visible" class=mboxDefault></DIV><SCRIPT type=text/javascript>mboxCreate('sku_samsquicktips');</SCRIPT><DIV style="DISPLAY: none; VISIBILITY: hidden" id=mboxMarker-default-sku_samsquicktips-0>&nbsp;</DIV><SCRIPT language=JavaScript src="http://campingworldinc.tt.omtrdc.ne...ategory/outdoor-chairs/122&amp;mboxVersion=37"></SCRIPT></DIV><DIV class=details><DIV id=skuinfo>&nbsp;</DIV></DIV></DIV></LI></UL>

If you want a chair made in the USA, the Kermit chair is a high quality handmade chair that takes up nearly no room and in fact it was originally developed and made by an old motorcyclist for motorcyclist touring.<br><br>I have a vintage one with long legs that they no longer make but really love it....<br><br>&nbsp;http://www.kermitchair.com/index.html<br><br>It is a little spendy but anything made in America costs more than in a third world country. <br><br>Old Kermit used to guarantee them for your life but the new owners cut that way back....too bad...<br><br>Bri<br><br>

<FONT size=3>Bri,&nbsp;I remember coveting that kermit chair of yours! </FONT><br><FONT size=3></FONT>&nbsp;<br><FONT size=3>Looking at the website, they're now producing leg extensions for people who desire/need to be higher off the ground. They raise the height of the seet from 17" to 22"</FONT><br><DIV>&nbsp;</DIV><DIV id=g8WaEU_308990 class=sitemason_paragraph><DIV style="WIDTH: 250px; FLOAT: left" class=sitemason_file align=left><DIV class=sitemason_file_left><IMG alt="" src="http://www.sitemason.com/files/iHR3X2/BlackLE_001.jpg/main.jpg" width=250 height=333></DIV></DIV></DIV>

Hi Cyndi....<br>Yes they do have the extensions and I guess that is the reason they don't make the long legged one any more....The one problem is I always feel obligated to not leave it out when I leave camp and at night...a theft would hurt more than it would of a $10 Walmart chair..<img src="https://vanlivingforum.com/images/boards/smilies/wink.gif" align="absmiddle" border="0"><br><br>When I bought chairs for Kit and I, we were both working and they cost $80 apiece.<br><br>For me, the main thing is that I really like to support workers and companies that produce things in the US.... it does have to be high quality though.&nbsp; This fills that niche for me.<br><br>If you look at what RVers are paying for chairs at Camping World, the Kermit chair is not so expensive....<img src="https://vanlivingforum.com/images/boards/smilies/biggrin.gif" align="absmiddle" border="0"><br><br>Glad you like it....<br>Bri<br><br><br>

<P><FONT size=4>My fav chair is my 5 gal bucket with a pillow and use a wood TV table for my laptop. And I am real close to the potty. LOL seriously I have&nbsp;2 metal folding chair folds flat 1" and slips under my hammock when I am sleeping. And I really use a wooden TV table. It goes there too.</FONT></P>

I think one of those basic wood-framed "director's chairs" would get the job done for me. I like having that open area between the back panel and the seat....

I don't use this chair inside my van, but you could. It is the most amazingly comfortable rocker/recliner. It sits a little low to the ground, but it contours and moves with you in the most amazing way. I love it. I have seen others made of wood too, but this one is really light weight and folds flat.

Some of the folding directors chairs might work well too, or maybe some of the umbrella chairs.

I go to the RV/Boat shows so I can try them out in person. There's quite a few good choices out there, but it's really hard because what will fit one person might be torture to someone else.

My favorite outdoor chair is the Max from Coleman--I buy it from Walmart. It has a better structural design and I find it the most comfortable. The sun wore my first one out, the second was stolen and now I'm on my third one.

It's enough better than most that I keep buying it. But it's not really for inside the van, probably too big.

I have a bad back, and no extra padding on my back side, so I tend to gravitate towards high backs, soft seats, and those that either rock or recline so I can find a comfortable position, which can change at any given moment as well.

I have a zero gravity folding lounge and DAMN I am gonna miss it. They are fantastic but even folding they don't fold up that small and they are two to three times heavier.
I want my chair! A trailer just might have to be in my future.

If you like your zero gravity chair, then figure out a way to take it with you.  I had one made by LaFuma years ago that I really loved.  Someone stole it at a campground, and I have never found one as comfortable since.

I have a zero gravity chair, and I think if you like it you should take it. Find something else to get rid of. You will likely use that chair every day.

I have one of those zero gravity chairs and I love it. I will recline in it while reading and fall asleep quick. however I don't want it for my only chair. highdesertranger

I carry 2 of these GCI Xpress loungers in my "B". They fold up into about the size of a laptop. You can see how they fold up in this you tube video.

Very cool chair. How much do they weigh?

cdiggy
If i remember, either 7 or 9 lbs. not quite sure but about the same as a bag chair. They made an aluminum chair called the Pico, but if I remember correctly they had some problems with them not folding easily, some bad reviews on them. I have had mine for about 4 or 5 years, no problem.
