From what I heard, tri axle drivers make $20 hr.Semi drivers make $22.They are farm trucks so no cdl is required.Of course everything over 40 hrs is time and a half. The shift is from 7am-7pm,or vice-versa 7 days a week.

I am not sure how Bob and Vic got done so early! I am still here working and they are planning on us being here through the weekend. (Premium pay is Sat and Sunday, so everyone wants the weekend work). I got hired on as a pile operator - very different than what Bob was doing. Basically, I stand in a cab a story above the trucks and operate the machine that accepts the beets from the trucks, then the machine moves them up a huge conveyor to a wash area, where the dirt is separated. I then give the dirt back to the truck drivers whilst the clean beets move along a boom to the top of the pile. I get paid 15.44 per hour to do this job. I am out of the rain and dust for the most part, but do have the added responsibility for operation and safety of the ground crew. It can get pretty hectic when we are running at full bore....all in all a decent job. Hard to stand for 12 hours though. Like Bob stated, if I return, I will definitely try to come back as a truck driver.

Jodie,So glad you got a better job.The reason we got done early was because of two quarter sized blisters on my right foot.I'm just now walking normal again. The PO on our piler raised the gate as a truck came across.Knocked holes in both fuel tanks. The truck lost air pressure and the brakes locked and we were down for 2 hrs.And that isn't even the best part. The next day he did the same thing again.Another 2 hr break. He left before they could fire him.If you need someone to help you count your money, give me a call.Hope you can make it down our way for a visit sometime. You'll know when you are here,The sign says"Welcome to Arkansas,Set your clocks back 30 years".You take care.

Thank you for sharing!

I'm in the initial planning process and it's good to know about this job. Was it hard to get hired on? Do you apply beforehand or after you get there?

If I assume 60 hour weeks at an average of $15/hour, that's $900/week. For 3 weeks =$2700. That's not too bad.
