I have a debit card with my Credit Union [CU] and have had problems with my card twice and thankfully both times the CU was on top of it the same day. First time, 5 years ago, the CU called and asked if I was buying 2 PC's in Turkey, yep the country, - I wasn't - they stopped the transaction. Second time, just a month ago, someone had cloned my card and tried to withdraw the maximum amount from an ATM on the other side of the town I live in, the CU called to see if I was making the withdrawal - I wasn't. If the thief hadn't gotten greedy, it would have been a different story.

While on the one hand I don't like the idea of no privacy in my account, on the other I am thankful that they are 'watching' and looking for patterns that aren't normal.

I have had no problems using ATM's when I am on the road but I haven't tried to pull the maximum from my account.

And what do you think will happen when we shift to the Cashless Society the banks want so badly?
