was shopping for stone new batteries to do some upgrading . Thought abouhht the Apex 200 ah the costing 269 now so 2 would be just over 500 . Well the 100 ah are 169 but would need 4 of those . Thinking about just getting the bigger ones and being done with it , I had been offered some help so should Just need to get it done. Any ways love you guys be seeing you

Not good value for a deep cycling application.

I don't know John, they are deep cycles not starting batteries and considering the option is the same type of battery in a smaller size. Maybe not as nice as my Lifelines but not the cost either. I would want to see a spec sheet for rated cycle life vs how deeply you will be cycling them to know how long they last. It's a good price if they are a good fit.

The downside is 4-D's are big heavy batteries. The upside is two or even three can be easily hooked up for balanced charging/discharging where as four 100 Ah batteries will require extra inter battery wiring to keep everything balanced.

Starting point IMO as you know is the Duracell/Deka FLA GCs at 200+AH per $200 pair.

There are only, what six makers of quality true deep cycling batts in the NA market, for FLA:

Rolls/Surette, Trojan, Deka/East Penn, U.S. Battery, Crown, and Superior

Even getting tech support to try to get that cycle chart is doubtful with the rest of the mass-market brands, and even from the above top makers can't really be used to compare to other companies, just across product lines within one company.

Lab charts have nothing to do with IRL, and the level of marketing "optimism" varies enormously.

Best to buy locally, any direct shipping costs even if subsidized by the seller is eating into the value of such a cheap & heavy product.

Anyone knows who actually makes the Apex batts?

You forgot Lifeline as a Quality deep cycle. Mine are 8 years old, do you know of anyone with 6 volts of that age?

These will last longer than starting batteries but not as long as 6 volts. Filling your need isn't always about what is the "Best" out there. It is what is the best for you. That includes considering price, footprint, capacity and cycle life. Do not get caught up in the brand baby syndrome and spend a lot of money for something you don't need.

Apex considers itself a superstore , there based in Las Vegas and have three or four warehouses they ship out off . I’m not sure who actually build the Apex line of batteries but the say it’s an American company.

the Apex batteries don't appear to be deep cycle batteries. not much info on the web site. highdesertranger

That’s what I was wondering , the 100ah does say solar on it but that may be false advertising

Nope, I specified FLA.

AGM list includes them, Odyssey and Northstar.

The Deka / Duracell FLA GCs are not "the best", but yes best value, by far.
