So, I didn't really think to take any pictures of the van before I ripped up the plastic floor covering. Which was hiding wet cardboard, wet carpet padding, and of course...rust...sigh. Not too too bad though. Seems to be just surface rust thankfully so I'm going to bang that out within the next few weeks. A small hole in the floor was found to be rusted through unfortunately but that's not the end of the world either. We don't have the money to get it fixed professionally so I've been reading everything I can find on the internet about how to do it myself. (Wish me luck!)

I figured I'd start a conversion thread while I'm still in the beginning stages of fixing up the van. Haven't gotten far at all in the restoration/conversion and I've yet to take any pictures but I'm going to spend the majority of tomorrow working on it so I'll try to snap a few pictures to share with you all.

-KMF

Ospho is a great rust treatment, just remove the loose flakey rust and apply liberally. It will turn the metal black, and the paint/ primer really sticks well to it. you must paint over it though.

Kleen Strip prep and etch is similar and less expensive.

Ha, that's exactly what I ordered. Found a website where you could buy a gallon of it for 25 bucks. Can't beat those prices. Thanks for the tip about painting over it! I was unaware I had to so I'll be sure to do that. Just waiting for the ospho to come in. In the mean time I'll be cleaning up the floor and chipping away the loose rust.
