To some extent one gets acclimated to their environment. I live in Southern Nevada. People from the North come down here during the winter and wear short sleeve shirts. Me being here for the 105 degrees get quite the chill starting about 70. If you are never in your environment, you will never get used to it.
I remember the first time I passed through Phoenix on a motorcycle trip during the summer, ( I had been living in San Francisco). I was dying from the heat, (106), the locals were running around like no big deal.
The rationalization that life is too short for, can be used for all sorts of nonsense. If one can live their whole life only doing what they feel like, only accepting what pleases them, I don't see how that individual will ever mature. But then some never do.
