active millitary national park pass

thought some might know someone who could use this information. I was in the area called land between the lakes today western ky and tn run by the national park service. their was a GI paying for his yearly camping fee of $30.00 dollars which gives you access to all camp grounds except the three with hookups. after that was completed she handed him a park pass and said as long as he was active military the pas was good with free access to all national parks. I live close to FT Campbell ky and visit this area a couple times a month but did not know this. I  doubt many know about this free benefit for our military.
