Some of the used camper vans I've been looking at have non working rooftop ac/heaters. Couldn't I just remove the ac/heater and patch up the hole or put in a vent?
What type of material would I use to cover the big hole? I'm new to making rv repairs so any tips and help is welcome :)
Thanks

The hole for the AC unit should be the same size as a standard vent. The AC was taken off before I bought mine and the vent fit perfectly. The only problem was that there is a low spot on the fiberglass roof caused by the weight of the ac unit where water pools. If I forget that it rained and open a window, a wall of water pours down from the roof when I drive off and I get soaked. You might want to check the roof area and make sure that it's level. Mine might just be an inexpensive topper so it may be fine.

The opening on a Class B that I removed the Coleman AC from was a little larger than a standard 14" vent. It was easy enough to cut some sheet metal to make up the difference.
