The atmospheric river that happened last winter which ripped through California wrecking major flooding and snowfall is still in effect this winter but will not be as strong. But the good news is there is a 200 year long gap after it departs before it will show up again. This one was not cursed by global warming. Instead it was actually an ongoing cycle that was proved by science and computer modeling by studying geological evidence going back thousands of years in the earths layers. So no now living humans have ever before experienced it and never will experience it again in their lifetime. Not that there won't be other storms causing flooding and higher levels of snow falls. Just not this particular set of severe cyclic circumstance cause.
If you want to read more about it the keyword are--- California atmospheric river 200 year cycle. A lot of articles were published on it last winter.

All the school kids where sad here last winter the only snow was during a vacation time and they did not get any snow days. I think they got a few power out days but not as many as normal....

We always laughed in Minnesota at what different area’s criteria was for a snow day… as we walked two miles uphill both ways to school in two feet of fresh snow!
Jason… we better stock up on firewood!
Campfires may be plentiful this winter…

Going to be a lot of wind and rain again. Which will limit good campfire nights. But then again you just never know exactly what the winter will be like. The winters of 2021and 2022 at pirate camp were pretty decent except for some strong windstorms now and then.

When I lived in Anchorage Alaska we sometimes used to run barefoot in winter through the snow out the front of the house to the mailbox by the street. Just being too lazy to put on winter shoes or even a coat. It was below zero degrees. Quick round trip of course but not a big deal. Zero degrees can feel pretty warm compared to those 20 below days in January.

In the winter rolling in the snow after a sauna was normal; didn't matter the outside temperature. Friends dad would cut a hole in the ice and jump in the lake after his sauna.
