So any news on a gathering this year?

From the Women's Official WRTR Facebook group - Suanne's reply to a question about the 2021 WRTR:

"We are putting the safety, health and welfare of the nomadic community first. So, we are lining up possible options the best we can at this point. Nov. 1 is our cut off date for a decision. I know that's getting late to make plans for many. But, we just don't have complete enough information to make a decision at this time."

So depressing, PARTR and West Coast van build dead too!
I miss meeting lots of cool people all in one spot.

Quartsite and the LTVAs are so big and so many people it is hard to ID CRVL people from just randoms

A lot of us will be in the area this winter whether there's an RTR or not. There will be informal small gatherings organized by friends who want to camp together. Newer nomads can find camping groups on this forum or the Camp Together Facebook group. It's up to each person to decide how comfortable they are interacting with people and to follow safe practices to avoid getting sick.

I dont even understand why anyone thinks there is going to be an RTR this winter. It is obvious that there won't be one in Arizona because Arizona has a ban on any outdoor gatherings of more than 50 persons.

The answer is that it would be against the law to hold the RTR until the governor of Arizona quits extending that specific regulation prohibiting large outdoor gatherings. It has nothing to do with what Bob Wells wants to do or what HOWA wants or what any of us wish for. It has nothing to do with what the BLM says either.

Even if the rule changed to increase the size of an outdoor gathering in Arizona to 100 or 200 there still will not be any RTRs this winter because there would be too many people showing up. There is no location in Arizona that can legally host the RTR because of the restrictions on gatherings.

Get out, go camping, have fun, make new friends on the internet and at the dispersed campsites. Decide to make this year one of the best times of your life in spite of the obstacles in it.

For an RTR to happen only one thing needs to happen. Bob posts his location and says he will be camping at that location and all are welcome to come by and say hi. That's it. People will then camp out in the general area without being an official group.

There are valid reasons for limiting the size of gatherings. Arizona has enough problems keeping Covid 19 cases under control without people deliberetly ignoring the advice of health officials. It is really tough to be sick with a bad virus when traveling solo. Especially so if you are living in a car without a bathroom or adequate bed, kitchen etc. You can't  drive when you have ccoughing spasms. No one to help nurse you through it. No one to run errands for you.

It would be extremely irresponsible to put people in a group gathering who would be facing having to deal with Covid 19 in that kind of living situation. Covid 19 became widespread around the country by people who traveled to conventions. That contact tracing was done early on in this pandemic and is a verifiable fact that large gatherings are a very bad idea.. The possibility of a superspread from an unofficial RTR is  very real as people will be dispersing in many directions and stopping in lots of small towns where there are few doctors and hospital beds.

I am imagining sponsoring an eastern RTR (unless that is a copyrighted abbreviation)

And in the interest of equal time I’m going to have an MRTR that means men only no women. We could sit around the campfire fart, tell dirty stories and scratch our you know what’s. Now that sounds like a fine use of our time.

Hope y’all have a sense of humor.

Online 2021 RTRs: A COVID-Safe Event!

Putting the health and safety of our community first, the Rubber Tramp Rendezvous (RTR) and Women's RTR classes will be online from January 14-20! Classes will be simulcast on multiple platforms -- Zoom, YouTube, and possibly Facebook -- taught by full-time nomads, coming to an electronic device near you! RTR classes include -- Get a Work Camping Job, Solar Made Easy, Find Free Boondocking, Safety Information, Tips to Downsize, How to Find Community (during COVID), and more. Women's RTR classes include Personal Hygiene for Women and Women's Safety. After each live class, attendees can ask questions of the presenters. More information about how to participate will be provided in the coming months.

Although HOWA is not organizing any in-person gatherings for legal and ethical reasons, we recognize that some in the mobile community will still want to camp together at their own risk. Consider connecting with others who share your level of COVID-related precautions by joining the Camp Together Facebook Group at http://facebook.com/groups/WeCampTogether OR, the CheapRVLiving Forum at https://vanlivingforum.com/for...php?fid=66. Use one or both of these venues to create your own personal camp. Although your arrangements to camp with others is unaffiliated with HOWA and the RTRs, we do recognize that community is important. Please use caution when participating in these unofficial camps. We want you and your camp mates to remain healthy and safe.

Thank you for the official and final update on the RTR and WRTR situation for this upcoming season. Also thank you for all the many time consuming efforts it requires for arranging an alternative educational program.
