Get ready for everyone's favorite way to brew coffee that doesn't use a 12VDC pot.

This has happened before. Reincarnation or deja vu.

The $20 one cup keurig rip-offs at walmart plugged into my inverter

....He didnt specify where the 12v starts

Seriously though pulling 20-50 amps through a 12 gauge wire at 12v is not efficient.

Yea. I been researching all night. Looks like I need to run through the inverter too.

Stop in the store they set them on diaplay. The single cups are usually like 400w give or take.

If you have a lot of solar, use an inverter with a regular coffee pot. You may lose some efficiencies in the conversion but it sounds like you have plenty to spare.

My propane tank lasts for more than a month and is very efficient and fast for stovetop (percolator) coffee. I do run the generator when I can for making my 12 cups of coffee though through a drip coffee maker. Fifteen minutes and it is ready.

Maybe a bit off topic but talking about making coffee...To properly charge flooded batteries daily you gotta have way more solar than just the typical old amps-out, amps-in theory anyway. You gotta have enough to charge at a serious amperage....25-30 amps an hour for a dual battery bank. In theory a massive surplus of amperage.

So running a 600w load on an inverter for 10 minutes should not make or break squat otherwise you have an inadequate charger (solar array). Especially over a 12v load.

That said a 20lb tank lasts a very long time just heating up water. But i do like drip coffee and understand that.

The electric kettle is good for a lot more than making coffee. I carry one for the times when I am hooked up to shore power, if not, I use a regular kettle on my propane stove. Avoiding single-use gadgets is kind of a life motto for me.

Of course, the most energy-efficient way to make coffee is cold brew.
