Unless you want to go to Sleeping Bear (which fortunately or unfortunately has been named one of the country's top beaches by National Geographic), there are tons of places near beaches in Michigan where it doesn't cost too much to camp as long as you don't need anything fancy. Those are the Great Lake beaches. If you are into inland lake beaches, there are so many that it is still cheap and also lots of forest service land too although I am not sure what the situation is for boondocking on that land.

Yes know can find BLM-National forest locations. No problem. Was more thinking that all areas should have a relative low cost RV location. And there are many areas that just do not have anything as a bargain, for long term stay.
