Well, I'm still in my planning phase, and a huge part of this prepping is building a bed. I can't figure out how to post images here. I read the tutorial but it isn't working.

The first picture is the full bed. It's 80"x30". Look at all the storage underneath! Joker is in the background to the left. Hi Joker!

The second picture is where I'm from, Mt Rainier country, Washington State.

The third picture is my "America On The Move" mural.  First we traveled by covered wagon out west. Then we took the "blue highways". Finally, we're taking off in RVs, because the bank foreclosed on our homes :(

I love all the artwork!! Good job. Definitely inspiring...

It's a shame to cover some of that with a mattress.. but you should do that so you can test out the bed and the mattress. :)

The slats are a hair too wide, but I've read so much about getting good air flow, I'll be rewarded with dry bedding in the morning.
I plan on using just a plain simple Ridgerest and a Thermarest camping airpad. Between the two, it's a sturdy enough surface.

The thermarest pads won't breath so the slats will not have any effect for a dry bed. These pads are great for hiking, for car camping I prefer a 3 inch foam pad because it is much more comfortable.

I love the artistic flair! I can't wait to see the rest of your build.

Tried out the bed on these:

The Therm-a-rest is 3 inches.

It was a short trial, I need to let my polycrylic cure.
The idea is to keep things light. During the day, these can be flipped against the wall. I thought of cutting my Tempurpedic mattress topper in half, but that thing weighs 30 pounds. No way do I want to deal with that.

Plus, add this:

Oh yeah, that will make a good night's sleep.

I am so proud of my new kitchen cabinet that I just have to show it off :)

I got my hands on some California redwood, then stained and finished it. It came out so beautiful, nice space to fire up the Jetboil for tea in winter, roomy enough for my cutting board to be a prep surface. I just love it.

Then I have shelves for my pots and pans, plates and cups. Top drawer has lots of space for my silverware, knives and utensils.

When it goes in a van, it will have to be braced to the floor right? Can I do that with L brackets?

I like it!  Is the cabinet metal?  there are small curtain rods with magnets for use on metal doors and window frames........  i've used them for cup towel hangers and to hang other light weight stuff.  The wood looks great...I do a lot of "road side shopping" and i bring home all kinds of wood......  some is new and some not however it will all be used.
                                                        Happy Trails.....TJB

Hi, Love the art work. Are you planning on using a box spring mattress? If not, I would think you might have to fill in the gaps lest your bedding sags through.
Love the Redwood used for your kitchen cabinet too, by the way.  ;-)

I'm bringing all my camping stuff. That's the approach I'm taking, I'm going perpetual camping. Yeah, the slats on the bed are a bit too wide, Ridgerest takes care of that. Also, I was going too fast and the center support beam got drilled in cocked-ways and I had gaps that bothered me. So, I stuffed redwood chips and wood filler in the gaps, and painted right over it.

The construction firm is closed for awhile, I've start the official savings for the van itself! I'm sure that subject will bring up plenty of questions from me.
