    America's Mailbox for mail forwarding?

I have their Silver plan. My experience with America's Mailbox and annoyance has been due to fees. They do not disclose exact criteria to trigger them in regards to packages specifically and I called them out on it. I don't mind something if I feel it's done above board and upfront. The...

Pets not allowed in some state/national parks

I've got a cat, she's not been a problem. She's my kid with fur. She comes on what I call 'random picnics' in Yellowstone National Park with me, where I work. You can bring your pet in, they're just not allowed on trails. So on moderate-temperature days, she comes right along with me. If I walk...

    States that recognize mail forwarders

Just wanted to clarify a few things. I have a class A CDL and have been backgrounded every which way under the sun with some of the jobs I've done. Maybe I can help a little with some addressing terms. I used to work closely with the USPS and it's 9,000 rules, acronyms and regulations. We had...

Feeling better about the SunFlair solar cooker

I experimented further in Grand Staircase Escalante Nat'l Monument, had to hole up there a few days. I got the little Sunflair up to 225 (!) according to the thermometer. I left out the rack, put the black silicone collapsing pot straight on the reflectix interior. I'd forgotten to buy oven...

    Cats first ride

I bet that was probably the same pet tent I was going to buy for mine! I'd gotten a different one for her before (except it was more intended for people so not full-screened), but it was a pain to put up and take down. So then I was going to try a pop-up style full screened tent for cats if the...

    Cats first ride

Oops, I should qualify my statements a little. Also, after I posted a reply, I saw in another thread that you'd tried a vest. I don't know if it was the Kitty Holster style. My cat is a torti. She has quite a distinct attitude. Our first attempts with the walking jacket styles were absolutely...

    Cats first ride

A walking jacket. I ordered in a Butterfly Walking Jacket from the UK, but there are several brands. A popular US brand is Kitty Holster. My cat is strictly indoors, and is a senior. She did NOT like her walking jacket at first, we had a few arguments. But, I now let her out with it on...

    2017 Ehrenberg news and resources

Ian, I think that's you just across the little dirt-bike loop from me. If you continue on down the 'road'/path that I'm (we're) right off of, heading towards the mountains to the east, the path will eventually kind of branch off. If you go left where it branches off and follow that heading back...

    SunFlair hot water test

Thanks for your .02 on that, I feel a little better since my success with this thing has been questionable as well. It's not marketed much differently than the All American Sun Oven, for example, but they are quite different. I went and looked at that style closer and now see what you were...

    SunFlair hot water test

'Think like a cooker', have to keep reminding myself of that. Sunflair calls it an 'oven' - but I actually found myself kind of viewing it more like a solar-powered slow-cooker than an oven based on the experiences I've had with it already. Have you tried to bake in yours? Do you think the flat...

    Van Essential: Folding BBQ grill

That's cool. I looked at those a little while back when I was looking for a small-spaces grill. Must have been something in the air with grill-shopping. I liked the concept but was worried about that grill style for the same reasons you guys were (it being wobbly or not going together solidly)...

    SunFlair hot water test

Thanks for that info, I didn't know you could do that. I have the little version of what Jim has. I think the mini is slightly less efficient so it'd be nice to boost the temp just a bit, though some of that could very well be operator error. I will try taking out the dark flat pan that usually...

    2017 Ehrenberg news and resources

Just to confirm on the kitty first-hand as well, her owners staff members came over and talked to me yesterday. She had wandered off, and yes they did recover her.

    Questions about Grief.

Nature. I find it extremely soothing to go off somewhere in nature and just be alone there for awhile, one on one. She helps heal the heart and soul if asked. Even if you can just go for a few hours on the weekend, or whenever you get the chance. I had a place I would go, before I went on the...

    Ehrenberg 2016/17

I forgot to add I am happy to meet people or say hello. My door faces away from the road but if my truck is here, I am somewhere. Anyone, especially fellow launching-newbies who don't know anyone either, are welcome. Glad to share a cup of tea or coffee.

    It is really happening!

Hey Lil Red, It was great to meet you and Seamus earlier. I didn't catch this post before now but wanted to chime in there are apparently multiple freaked-out people (including me!). I'm also wingin' it and have to work as I go, but I believe we can do it. I love your car, I had one just like...

    trailer tires

I would go up a little in size. I had a tire failure on my fifth wheel (max 3,500 lbs or so). I bumped the size a little from 205s to 215 70r 14s, they fit fine. They're STs and I think are rated at 1,800 lbs. Like you, I also contemplated going to 15" rims.

propane single burner stoves as heaters?

My experience is, when I lived outside of Fargo, ND, it would hit sub-zero with great regularity. So I kept a single burner in my Chevy pickup, belted into the passenger seat so it wouldn't move or tip, for quick (or emergency) heat without having to wait for the engine to warm up. It was the...

I'm floating around as well. Tiny molded fiberglass fifth wheel and darker grey Chevy pickup kind of tucked behind it.

    Baby it's cold outside

Been in the single digits and subzero here in the Black Hills (SD); a little unseasonable for the area to have these temps hang around as long as they have, this is usually called the 'banana belt' due to the milder winters. The small trailer has come in handy - less to heat! I'm currently in a...
