    RTR/Desert Basics

An easy solution for the headlight in the eye problem ( deer in the headlights?) is to just slide it down to your neck and wear it like a necklace. Points at your toes to see where you are going, doesn't follow your eyes when you look at someone. I agree, these new lights will blind you.

    Mindful Camp -2018 RTR

I'd like to  check it out M. I'm in Havasu City now, battling mechanical issues. Seems to be working, I'm thinking of stocking up on supplies and heading out Tuesday for Q. I'll try the PM  for location. Thanks!

Woah! Over the top, but OMG

I disagree, and have known people as well. But whatever, I don't need to argue with strangers on the internet over something not that important to me. I pity your limited point of view, you seem to like to correct everybody to your opinions. I was just stating mine.

Woah! Over the top, but OMG

Not really a limited point of view, but different. Not staying in fancy hotels would be a limited pov as well. Not something I want to do either, but in my view I see people with that kind of money wanting luxury. It's why they did what they did to get that money. If they didn't want luxury they...

Woah! Over the top, but OMG

I think they build these across town (/city-Denver) in Broomfield. I have never understood the market. Who with that kind of money would camp? You could stay in 5 star hotels for the rest of your life. And take it off-road for that money? No way. They look cool driving by the factory on the...

    T@B or other teardrop?

Their welded aluminum wall structure looks impressive in the how they are built section. Kind of how Four Wheel Pop Up Campers built their reputation.  Don't let High Desert Ranger catch you driving around with that torsion axle though.    :)

Yea or nay, good batteries to start a growing system?

I think it's fine, but there are security issues then. They seem to prefer indoors.

Yea or nay, good batteries to start a growing system?

The only intelligent thing I can add is that, being from Colorado, when I read the title I assumed the OP wanted to start a pot "growing system". Electricity is key to these people  :)

    Hauling a Motorcycle

I have a TW200, agree they are a ton of fun. Great way to explore from base camp. I think I'm going to have to sell it though, doesn't go with my new set up. Used to tow it behind on a trailer but now I have a cargo trailer that's full. Sucks, it was fun.

    Hauling a Motorcycle

Just to be clear, I don't mean you, I mean the person who made a motorized suitcase.

    Already in Quartzsite

Didn't see this for awhile, lots of content here. I like your mindful nomadics idea. Hope to run into you some where out there. I lived in Boulder, love Nederland. I'm south of there by Red Rocks now, probably on the road soon. I'll look for you in Arizona!

    Hauling a Motorcycle

I like to think of myself as someone open to everything and I love weird stuff. But there is no way you couldn't look like an asshole on that motorized suitcase. No one could pull that off. Just because you have an idea doesn't make it a good idea.         :)

    RTR shelter idea

I think if you wore one of these no one would know you were even in there. But seriously, I don't think that would survive winter desert winds.

    Van living toys

That's awesome. I need one.  They should have a version of the van with a Barbie doll in it for taking #vanlife photos.

    Another solar/battery/ 12 volt question.

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but it sounds like your system description is light on power. One 100 watt panel would have a hard time keeping up with what you want to run- " I plan on charging my phone, fire tablet, computer, fantastic fan, small fan, 12 volt fridge (Dometic), a few...

    Troubles with bears

My issue with bear spray is that if the wind is coming at you you spray yourself too. Then the bear has a blind spicy meal.

    Preference? Alone or in Group?

Yes.  And introverted is derogatory and extroverted is admired.

    Preference? Alone or in Group?

Put me down for being in the 1-3 people range. I'm drained not charged by large groups. I like how it's so openly talked about here and that it's okay. I haven't seen that much in life. I've always felt that introversion was one of the last traits that's okay to ridicule and ostracize. It's not...

    Troubles with bears

Depends where you are, bears are more aggressive in some areas. Worst places are around National Parks that start with a Y- Yellowstone and Yosemite. They had a car on display in Yosemite that had it's window frame pried open by a bear. Top half of the door just bent down. A lot of times those...

coming out in Dec from the midwest

Left Waterloo almost 30 years ago. I like being from Iowa a lot better than being in Iowa. In Colorado now. Good move, head west!
