We bought a van.. Well kinda

I picked up a factory drivers side battery tray on my way home today. I am going to be removing the passenger side battery as I only need one starting battery. That will free up that spot to move the siren off the top of the van. Oh yea, we are keeping the sirens and pa system. Just don't want...

I am familiar with the sbc. Its a 350. 113 family. Extreme duty. It had a water heater connected to the heater hoses that was down on the frame rail. I ended up removing about 12ft of un-necessary hoses and just simplified the cooling. By doing that it took lots of hose off the engine itself...

Over my head.. Solar, batteries etc

I will most likely build a metal box and sink them into the floor. You made my mind up on that. I really dont want to be on my back dropping batteries off the rails to check on them.

Thanks friends. I have been looking for another van for a couple years. Never thought it would be an old ambulance but no worries. It will not look like one by next summer. It's been fun so far. Just not used to all the crazy wiring and heavy duty parts this machine has in it. The pcv valve is...

Also just picked up lower and upper radiator hoses. Those are next along with a flush. It looks good inside but the age and knowing it spent more time in the back of a city storage unit I'm not chancing it. I did change out both heater hoses already. Its coming along fine.

That's nice to hear. I was told the alternator was a 200a unit as well.  I have not looked that close to confirm it but it is an ambulance. We just bought it.

Yes, they are original 16.5 rims. That is a very generous offer. I have been looking at 16's due to tire cost and availability but have not decided on how I want it to look like in the end. What style are they?

So this was under the hood. Not sure how its tied to the rest of the wiring yet.

I built 2 boxes out of plywood to mock up the tray for under the hood but the batteries are too tall to even get one in. I'm going to have to move them under the van on a rail or sink them into the floor. I really dont want them inside. To big, to bulky so im going to need to figure that out.

This is the cleanest carb I have taken apart.  Anyone know if this redish part can be soaked in carb bath? I know rubber is a nono but not sure about this part.  Also this is the first quadrajet that i have seen with these plastic caps on the air/fuel mixtures. I thought they all come with...

We bought a van.. Well kinda

Well after about 600 miles my carb is not allowing the van to run well on acceleration so its time to rebuild it. While I am waiting on a carb kit to get here i thought i would take it apart and clean it. Plus all this yellow anti rust stuff that was sprayed all over most of this van including...

So I can get rid of the blue isolator? If i do that will it all still work and if so how do I bypass it? Sorry but this is my first van build that will have power and solar. We know what we want but not sure how to do it. Internet searches only give me 100 or more ways of doing it including...
