    Chevrolet cargo van

I have a 2004 chevy express van 6.0 V8 3500 regular with now over 165k miles and it still drives like new and pulls hard. I did average 15 mpg before I put on a roof rack and solar panels, now I get 1 mpg less. Best tank 17.5 mpg, worst tank 12 mpg. Great van and parts are cheap and easy to get...

Insurance Recommendations (Or, surprise! Not covered!)

What I did is I re-classified my cargo van turned camper van as an RV with State Farm. All they required was to send pictures of the finished build showing the amenities that make it a RV. Not only did my chevy express 3500 get re-classfied as a RV with the insurance company (only with...

    Honda Knockoff

Yeah but when people are broke as a joke and in need of a generator bad, these knock-offs will have to suffice. However, I don't trust Chinese shiz. I recently bought one of those big Larry LED worklights and it worked for a few uses and now it comes on when it wants which isn't very often. No...

320 Watt Cynergy Solar Panels, new in box for $109.00

There is a reason they are heavily discounting them. I'd be suspicious.

Why a van and not something else?

Sounds like you're dreaming. No offense. lol I had that dream once as well and settled on a converting a cargo van that I'm happy with. if I want to stretch out I lay on my bed and stretch out. lol I take warm showers from the back of the van outside but not long showers as I only have a 7 gal...

320 Watt Cynergy Solar Panels, new in box for $109.00

I'd be cautious, there is a reason why they are selling them super cheap. Either their being discontinued or a pos. If it's discontinued and the company is no longer around that means no warranty, if it craps out you are shiz out of luck.

    2004 vs 2012 Chevy Express 3500 Extended

300 hp / 300 torque! Power for the win!

Chevy discontinued gas engines over 4.8 on the express vans

I average 15 mpg overall, 17 mpg highway with my converted camper chevy express 3500 6.0. I'd rather have the extra towing power if I need it.

    Van Awning

How long have you had and what are your thoughts on the ARB awning? What size did you get? How is it in rain? Thanks for your feedback! From what I read the ARB and Smittybuilt are close to the same.

    Van Awning

Hey I have a chevy express van with a roof rack (with a huge solar panel on it) and wanted to add an awning. Does anyone have any recommendations? So far I found these two low cost options: Smittybuilt (8'x6'): http://amzn.to/2bDl6ze ARB (8'x8') : http://amzn.to/2bmDej8 From my research both...

    2004 vs 2012 Chevy Express 3500 Extended

I averaged 17 mpg on my last trip across the country in my 2004 chevy express 3500 converted camper van. It's better to get the 6.0 V8 and be light on the gas pedal to save fuel BUT have POWER on tap for steep mountain climbs rather than a smaller engine straining which you will still end up...

    2004 vs 2012 Chevy Express 3500 Extended

Wow prices are high in your area. I bought a 2004 chevy express 3500 cargo van with 150k miles, one owner, no accidents and religiously maintained. Paid $3600 cash (CL). Earlier last year (2015), I was going to buy a 2012 chevy express 3500 with only 20,000 miles fro $12k cash, which also a...

    Penske Used Vans... and others

One problem is you went through a insurance broker, I recommend getting State Farm insurance if you have it there, that's who I'm with and I had zero issues. Like I said earlier it pays to do research, you definitely want to research before taking any actions to avoid any potential issues. Every...

    Penske Used Vans... and others

For those of you who live in states that require a commercial registration and/or commercial police on a 1 ton van, find out if you are permitted to convert it to a RV and register it as a RV/Passenger vehicle. Also, with your insurance company, you should be able to insure the converted 1 ton...

    Penske Used Vans... and others

It depends on where you live, where I live I did not have to register it as a commercial vehicle, however, they did make me sign a waiver stating I was not going to use it for commercial purposes. FYI - Also, once you convert the van to a camper van, call your insurance and change it to a RV...

Cargo Van Rack + Solar Panel

FYI - Installed the Prime Design AluRack. The rack was super easy to install, super light for a roof rack (40 lbs) and I took the van on the highway at speeds over 75 mph and it was a quiet as it was without a rack. So the marketing hype that this rack is aero dynamic and doesn't make noise us...

300 watt Solar Panel for $250 good deal?

I'll try to come back and do a review on the Panasonic solar panel once I get some experience with it. I'm going to even try to see if I can get some power out of a Wal Mart parking lot light at night like some RV'ers claim to do with their mono panels.

300 watt Solar Panel for $250 good deal?

I bought the new Panasonic 325 watt HIT MONO panel that has the best efficiency rating at 19%, better than all other solar panels right now. They are tough to come but but a local solar installer is going to add an extra one to his order for me that will cost me $400. What good saving money on a...
