    HUGE Kidde Fire Extinguisher RECALL

Just got mine...one on Thursday and the other on Friday. New handles are beefed up...but still plastic.

    rest areas

A bud who is still working for the Florida Highway Patrol (and his troop includes I-95) told me long ago what has been surmised here...unless you are complained upon for starting trouble, they couldn't care less. As with most cops, if you are the cause of them generating paperwork... you're gone!

That LED motion sensor light is brilliant!

    City vandwelling advices (Orlando)

I work in the Melbourne (FL) area, what Orlando International Airport refers to as "Orlando beachside". I will second the notion of industrial parks, as I see  full-time boondocking (albeit mostly w/ larger M/Hs and Winnies) on a regular basis here. Most likely though, the dwellers have some...

What song do you listen to most often?

Generally speaking, I am a great decomposer of things musical. The most common request I got from the now ex-wife was "please stop!" I can see where musically speaking, I would not fit in too well here. My tastes tilt more towards my Celtic/American roots, hence my enjoyment of Riverdance...

    Do you LOVE coffee?

If I'm buying a cup of ready made, it's DD or Einstein's in no particular order. The BJs Wholesale Club in town does carry the DD brand 5 lbs bags and that works out well. When using a Mr Coffee, I am sure to use ice cold water. Along with cream, I will add just a touch of vanilla extract and...

Got a knock today, Flagstaff Wal-Mart

I note that in my base of operations,  that many municipalities are the ones enforcing the "No Overnight Parking" at Wal-Marts. Oft times, as noted above, this is brought on by police reports of slobs and panhandlers. Another concern, in this Age of Irresponsibility, property owners have no...

    Topper sleeping area

AlasKen (great name!), Love that set up! Simple, but solid. Also creates an "outta sight, outta mind" scenario for unwanted eyes.

    Many Conflicting Thoughts

Waverider, Just my "outside lookin' in" perspective, but if you stay behind with her, ultimately you will come to question why. If she needs you to conform to her ideal of happiness, this can't end well for you. Compromise, in my experience,  seems to lead to mutual dissatisfaction.  In my...

For those that do take a firearm with you...

Big T....I agree with you on both your dislike of the Ruger 9mm (way to heavy) and passion for that GP100. My GP is an early model from back when you could get it with fixed sights (my preference). I generally just shoot .38s in mine. The .44s are nice, but more than I currently need here.

    Ingrid Bergman...

Without a doubt...the best movie ever made. Seems every time I view it I hear a subtle one-liner that escaped me in previous screenings. I think Claude Reins had the best lines.

For those that do take a firearm with you...

Hey there Charlotte,  The NV optics can run the gamut pricewise. Quality is seldom inexpensive. I don't believe the older generation of NV will work at all in the daylight. I last shot with one in the mid-80s. I am sure that wrinkle has been hammered out by now, but I believe current issue run...

    New guy from Florida

Thanx Popeye, Seems to be a common thread to fire warning shots across the bow from what i am reading. Perhaps the site needs a #!?%@■~& rant forum? LOL Must confess, I rather enjoy truly "civil" wars. Being the libertarian that I am, I have strong 1st amendment feelings....for all parties...

Hello Just another newbie from Florida

Howdy Sanman. Steve here from Central Florida, also quite new to these pages, but have learned a lot from scanning old posts thru the night.

    New guy from Florida

"When I'm 64" has dawned on me and here I am. I am a retired cop from So. Florida, having moved up the I-95 corridor a few years back and bought several rental properties up this way.  It's just me nowadays as the daughters are grown and stayed behind, the dogs (3) have passed on and the ex- I...

    New guy here..

Requesting permission to come aboard.  I am seriously considering the purchase of a camper top for my Toyota Taco Access Cab. This will be for travel/camp purposes of two weeks at a time. I have looked at the ARE, and it appears to be a decent product. Any thoughts here? Also, I see that I can...

For those that do take a firearm with you...

Charlotte, Lots of good suggestions here. The SP101 is indeed a solid choice. I have one in .4" in .32 H&R magnum that my daughter enjoys playing with. Have never fired the same in .38, but they are certainly built to last. John's comments about Security Six, and larger still GP100 are also...

For those that do take a firearm with you...

Karl, I think we must have graduated from the same old school together. I too think fondly of those same choices in Rugers and Smith revolvers...and as stated like the Ithaca M37/12 bore. I too have a Winchester 94 .30-30 in Trapper configuration and a .308 bolt gun. Both of the later get a lot...

For those that do take a firearm with you...

Lenny, Stop and think about this for a second. If someone has it within his heart to do you ill in a physical way, said individual has already dehumanized you. He does not care that you have places to be and family to attend to. Perhaps he can be reasoned with. Perhaps not. I understand your...
