Hi everyone!

Im new to this community. You all are full of joy and optimism. Im glad I have found you. I moved from Atlanta to Mobile, Al and I had a 5 year career as a Energy healer. I became drained and tired and wanted to just work for someone for a while or do something else. It landed me in this situation. Im not mad about the pivot because I’m just being true to myself. Im just in a big challenge right now. I don’t know where to find money, a minivan to convert, or a being on this planet that can assist me right for some reason. Sometimes things seem to fall right into my lap and at this time it seems nothing i do creates any flow. Im really close to eviction my car was repossessed and no one will hire me. I have lived in my car before and I was having the time of my life but I never thought about traveling and living in a vehicle full time. I signed up for some local car donation non profits but no answer back yet. I’m single with just me and my dog, I find that I don’t fit into the demographic of who people would consider in need. So . . . . I don’t know what to do. I was lead to this forum watching crystal vanning YouTube channel. Thank you all for any of your suggestions.

I’m sorry for the situation you find yourself in.

Have you looked into emergency resources to maintain your apartment, as in small grants?

I don’t know what would be available in Mobile, but might start by calling your local homeless shelter, who should be able to give you some phone numbers.

Sign up with day labor and temp agencies for short term employment, to get some money coming in.

You need a means to sustain yourself and stabilize before thinking about getting a van and converting it.

Take any job you can find, is my suggestion, and once you are working again look for something more permanent.

One day at a time, get up and do what you need to do.

Good luck to you.

Thank you, yes I have looked into emergency funding around here but I haven't tried calling the homeless shelter. I will do that and all your other suggestions. Thank you!

First of all you are free. Maybe not free from financial worry but even nomadic living does not free people from that if you have no income source.

Find a women’s shelter to go to. Volunteer to do some group therapy energy healings there. That is doing something positive which of attracts more positive energy opportunities into your life. Do not view it as a step down, view it as the start of a new path forward. You will get assistance at finding income generating jobs while staying there.

Take a look on coolworks.com for seasonal jobs with housing. Possibly one of the nonprofit agencies will give you a bus ticket to get to a job. Go to the unemployment office in your area and tell them you don’t want benefits you are looking for employment. Sometimes employers call agents there looking for people wanting to work. Simplify your life as much as possible. Start getting rid of as much as you can so relocation and moving into a vehicle will be easier.

OK, I'm about to do the annoying thing of jumping on the internet and suggesting stuff to you that you probably already tried long ago -- so feel free to ignore -- but just want to make sure you've checked out Catholic Social Services? and Alabama 2-1-1?

Good luck! This part is intense, but it will pass!

You may want to look into a support group in Mobile known as "Our Sisters Closet org". It's much like the "Dress for Success chapters that exist in many states.....such as Atlanta Ga. They help place disadvantaged people in work opportunities, counsel them with interview skills, provide clothing suitable for job interviews etc.

All the best ! :)

You can check Mobile's chapter out here:

Lol! Thank you so much! I was just at Catholic Services last week. They told me they would only give $200 if I had the rest.

I called a temp agency and have an interview tomorrow. I just got a job at the dollar store down the street. Thanks to you guys advice. It's not all over it. But I will keep going. I've been so worried. I'm glad I said something in this forum. I will do everything you all suggest. Yes, basically the ish has to hit the fan in order for most organizations to help.

I've actually wanted to do energy healing in women's shelter. Thank you for your encouragement and advice. I love it!

Good for you, and thanks for reporting back. ☺️

If you can get $200 from Catholic Charities that may be enough for your landlord to stall your eviction.

You may also be able to get help from other agencies.

It is very expensive to evict, your landlord would likely rather you stayed and worked out a plan to pay off your balance owed than put you out on the street.

And, you know, you are young and apparently healthy, so if you work a couple of jobs for awhile, that will help you get back on your feet.

Some of this may follow you awhile, so be prepared to speak to this crisis and how you worked your way out of it.

Surviving bad times is a strength, a superpower of sorts.

Get up every day, do your part, a path out of this will show itself.

They won't give me the $200 if I dont have the rest. But when I get $800 and if I still need assistance I will go back down there.

"Dress for Success" helped me when I lost my job in 2008 just in time for the recession. They did purely clothes, not those other services, at least in my state. I can't say enough good things about them; they were wonderful. Even more than the free, high-quality business-type clothes (which could make or break a job hunt), it was a huge morale boost because they do it so respectfully, they give you the same attention that a rich lady would get shopping in a swanky store. It can really give you a second wind and get you excited to take next steps. (Where I lived, you had to get a referral from another agency e.g. the unemployment office, you couldn't go to them directly.) (Part of the challenge to a thing like this is having to cobble together so many different resources.)
^^ Sorry, had to digress and toot their horn for a minute, I was so impressed by their low-key but really positive service.
I'm glad I said something in this forum
I'm glad you did, too; good luck! Actually, you seem like you have the kind of attitude that makes good luck. People sometimes come here with pretty crazy ideas about how going nomad will magically fix all their problems, so it's refreshing to see someone willing to help themselves.

Too true. One day at a time. I remember being surprised that it was physically possible to be that scared for that long -- like heading over the top of a roller coaster all day long. I ended up going freelance, which I never would have even considered if this "bad luck" hadn't happened, so when the dust cleared it was a blessing. I hope your bad luck turns into good luck too.

Welcome Aja-Aya:)

Have you ever waitressed? In the right restaurant you can make pretty decent money.

You might try contacting Lutheran Social Services. I couldn't find a phone number for them in Mobile, but I think this church might be a good start:

Martin Luther Lutheran Church
1267 Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Avenue
Mobile, AL 36603
(251) 433-2481

Rev. Dr. Michael J. Huntley
[email protected]

Sometimes church members donate vehicles, so let area ministers know your situation and provide them with contact info.

Also, the largest employer there is the Mobile County Public Schools. Looks like there are quite a few openings (teacher aides, bus drivers, custodians, and more):

https://ats1.atenterprise.powerscho...OMPANY_ID=00008512&APPLICANT_TYPE_ID=00000002
Here is their main website: https://www.mcpss.com/jobopportunities

The Salvation Army might help with any fees. Eg. I noticed the school district expects applicants to pay for drug testing.

Best of luck:)

I am a bouncer.
If I get tossed against the wall, instead of sticking then slowly drooping to the floor, I bounce against the ceiling and other walls a few times on my way toward ecalibibrium equalibriam stability.
.
Accordingly, I constantly eval my surroundings for soft landing spots.
Facing your story, I might go sideways rather than be a straight.
Fact is, I am so not-straight, some might call me a 'cork-screw'...
.
And, in my experience, if one door closes, a hundred more open.
Recognizing them as doors is up to me.

After years of mobile living, about a half-decade ago, we 'landed' a workkamp gig at a small organic teaching farm near the outskirts of Eugene, Oregon.
We share the acreage with a couple-three dozen other workkampers in various versions of home-built house-trucks and RecreateVehicles.
.
Crops need Energy healing, same as folks.
Could something like that work for you and your pooch?
.
b)
In Eugene, Saint Vincent de Paul operates a used vehicle lot.
Would you believe folks donate all kinds of vehicles:
* work trucks and vans
* RecreateVehicles
* sedans and coupes.
.
About five years ago, SVdP had a 1988 Jaguar XJS with the T-top!
Back in my high-performance high-profile days, that was my 'dream car'...

Do vehicles need Energy healing, same as folks?

c)
My neighbor family operate a tow-truck service and yard.
They probably have at least a hundred vehicles in the lien process.
I see them auction vehicles for probably ten percent (10%) of Blue Book.
Sometimes, nobody comes to the auction or nobody bids.
To clear space for the next batch of towed vehicles, that vehicle gets donated.
.
As persistent person standing in the office -- with her well-behaved pooch -- at just the right time might...

Do auctions need Energy healing, same as folks?

d)
In the newsprogramming:
Apparently, Seattle bureaucrats ordered towed many dozen RecreateVehicles off the streets.
Apparently, those ended up in storage yards and auto wreckers aka 'dismantlers'.
Nobody has cubic space for that many RecreateVehicles, so they need to immediately sell them or dismantle them.
Unfortunately, factory RecreateVehicles have few valuable parts to re-sell, so the darn things are a major liability.
.
I bet if you asked, you might receive a free home... and they might tow it to your workkamp gig as a bonus.
.
Do tow-trucks need Energy healing, same as folks?

e)
The local private-owned animal shelter has full-time care-takers in furnished apartments.
.
Do abandoned pets need Energy healing, same as folks?
.

Please, let me know your results!

One quote I remember reading in a Tony Robbins book about 30 years ago that I really liked and still remember to this day is: "We can not control what happens to us in our lives, but we have total control over how we react to what happens." I am very glad that you came here and are getting so many excellent ideas, suggestions and advice from some very caring and helpful people. You are being proactive and, by making the decision to come here, and following some of the ideas presented to you already, you are well on your way to turning things around and making your life what you want it to be. You can do this and, you will do this and I wish you nothing but the best on your path to living your best life.
