For those who park their RV on their own land, a wood gasifier might serve well for power generation and hot water heating. Look up wood gasifier and see if you're interested.

Very basically, it works like this: wood chunks are heated until they off-gas. Producers gas results and is run through a filter, a radiator to cool it, then into the intake of a generator. The producers gas (wood gas) is the fuel for your generator. Heated water from the radiator (cooling part for the producers gas) goes into a hot water holding tank for showers, washing dishes, ect... Wood becomes the fuel source to provide your power needs.

Wood gasifiers can be built for a few hundred dollars, if you're willing to build it yourself. It would make an excellent backup for solar panels/windmill/hydro systems.

It is not new technology. During WWII, over a million vehicles ran on producers gas due to gasoline rationing. In other words, it's worked well for us in the past and can again serve our needs, if necessary.

One last thing, pellets and bio-blocks can also be gasified, should wood be in short supply in your area. Look up bio-blocks for more info.

That is an awesome idea! It would be great if you couldn't get any gas for your generator and stuff. At least you would still be able survive. And now a day's we should always be thinking outside the box, just in case.
