hi  i,m trying to find someone to put a window in my cargo trailer in the door. call 2 different people they never call back .called body shop,several different places they don,t do it. does anyone have ideas.who can do this.thanks

Have you tried calling RV sales locations? They usually have maintenance onsite or they may be able to refer you. Maybe stop by one and ask directly...

Find a place that does van conversions and window tinting. The two seem to go together. Car stereo installers could probably refer you to the right place too.

It isn't that hard to do it yourself. You could get a jig saw or circular saw like a Ryobi Rechargeable with the 12 charger. Use the actual window to trace the hole. You can use a file to pare down a little bit. You'll want sealant anyway, and that can be used to fill small gaps.

As they say, measure twice, cut once.

are you planning on a aftermarket window or a factory window? a factory window will be very difficult because you don't have the factory reinforced lip to support the window. that is a job for a body shop and it ain't going to be cheap. once you know how aftermarket windows are easy to install. highdesertranger

Master Mechanic, couple of things.

that window is not design for mobile applications.
it's a flat window so will not conform to the curvature of the side of the van. this will cause stress on both the window and the van sheet metal.
lastly it has square corners. the square corners will stress fracture at the corners, both on the window frame and the sheet metal of the van. if you notice all air planes have radius corners on their windows, so do boats and all newer RV's. even houses that don't move down the road stress fracture at the 90° corners. highdesertranger

It is a cargo trailer.  You do want a radius window.  One reason no one wants to put a window is because they probably don't know how the door is constructed.  from my experience they probably don't want to scare you with a price to do the work and those windows are not cheap to begin with.  They also know if they install it and it leaks they don't want the headache.  I would suggest find someone to put a window in the wall close to the door if you want to see out.  I've worked with the public for many years and I am basing my answer on years of experience of working with people who thought they wanted something that wasn't practical and they did it anyway and weren't happy with the results.  I'm not trying to be mean just offering an opinion.
