WiFi Boost

I will be needing constant WiFi this winter in Quartzite  and Ehrenberg to keep up with my business. I have more than enough power for whatever, I just need to know what equipment to get.  I currently have Sprint, but can change if necessary.   I see a lot of recommendations.  What really works?  :s

Bob did a very detailed post -- I want to say several weeks ago -- on exactly this topic. He described the booster and ALSO the directional exterior antenna and how he sets that up. How he finds where the nearest towers are (from an app) so that he can direct the antenna properly, etc.

I think there are further suggestions in the comments on that blog.

Sorry, I'm a little confused. Just to clarify, when you say wifi ,you mean the kind you get by going to free wifi hotspots like McDonlads. Is that right?

Or do you mean cell phone data like from Sprint?

If you mean cell phone data I can highly recommend the Wilson Sleek cell amplifier and their Directional antenna. Works extraordinarily well!!

I want to be able to sit for a week in the desert and still get work done.

The Sleek is great, but their directional antenna is far superior to any other antenna. I was in a camp with a friend and he got nothing even with a sleek but the directional antenna made it work well for me. Here is a review of both:

Verizon will get you signals when nobody else will. ATT has improved and is a close second, but, Verizon is still king.

If connection is critical in the middle of nowhere, get Verizon!

in the sticks Verizon is number one, followed by AT&T, then Sprint. however I been surprised more than once by Sprint working in some unlikely spots. but mind you this has been rare. highdesertranger

HDR is right, every so often the other will work when Verizon doesn't--rarely, but it does happen. If cell signal in the boondocks is mission critical, maybe get a Verizon plan for the 90% of the time and a cheap ATT plan for the other 10%.
