After a bunch of research, I've decided to get a Whynter FM-65G. The best price I've found is $580.38 at Amazon and also at Home Depot.  Does anyone know if these fridges ever go on sale?  I don't need it for another 6 - 8 weeks, so have some time to wait if they periodically go on sale.  I just don't want the price to go up!

Very rarely do they have a sale but if you look at a comparable model they really are a great value. I'm also going to be installing the 65 just because of the reviews from fellow members. And also because I can add another solar panel with the savings! I'd call that a winner!

Agree they are a great value. Good reviews, metal construction with a square body making it easy to insulate further with Polyiso or in other ways. I'm definitely getting one. But a sale or a coupon sure would be nice!

I checked the Amazon price history and that price is solid.  There has been ZERO price changes on that unit for as far back as I can see.  If it does change it might go up and it is not likely to go down much if it does go down at all.  It is one of 4 makes and models I have been watching and has my vote so far.   I say just do it.  Should be a very safe investment.

Thanks for checking. I was not aware Amazon showed price history. It sounds like I should hit the trigger.

I use "Honey" within the Amazon app for pricing info on everything.  Can get some history insight with it.  It did say not only has the price not change for some time but also that the current price is the best price ever on Amazon.  Yep, I'd do it if my build was ready for it.

I purchased my Whynter 65 qt from Amazon June 2015, it was $520.80. 3.5 years +$60. 3.32% inflation/year.
I placed insulation on the sides per Bob Wells. Held on with bungee cords.
I keep two heavy Mexican rug/blankets laid on top when closed.
It has been very good.

Amazon loves me. lol. Its on the way. I don't want to risk a price increase!

Wow.  I never thought buying a fridge would be like trying to time a stock market purchase.  I'll keep checking periodically while I'm in my return period since I won't be using it for a number of weeks, and if the price comes down I'll call Amazon and see if I can work something out.
