Hey VanDwellers, I got the Whynter 45qt, super happy with it, testing has proved this to be the cat's meow in my opinion.
Question, where I am using this for best fit and to get good air circulation this places the 12v plug in a common area, I can see in
my wee little mind a real life OH NO the fridge is not working due to either me or the wife knocking this loose or even possibly breaking
it off. If this was a right angle plug I would feel much mo better about this issue, has anybody come up with a plug as this?

If so, a link to where I can obtain one.

Thanks,

Ron n Jackie

Whynter doesn't offer one? maybe one of the other 12v refers plugs would work. just make sure the polarity is the same. I know Engels come with a 90 degree plug. another option would be to make your own plug. highdesertranger

The Ciggy plug is best cut off and the fridge wired directly to fuse block.  It will receive higher voltage and work better, more reliably and waste less battery power.

But I know this is not the solution for everyone.

The shorter and thicker the wire the better, to and from the ciggy receptacle.

When the fridge cycles off after running for 5 minutes or so, Pull the plug out and feel for heat on the tip of the plug.

If it is cool, in a few months repeat test.  Eventually it will get hot, eventually it will fail

Yes I had read all that so it is covered, I'm in a Short G-20, battery bank under bed, 10ga direct to batteries (with fuse), cigy plug trashed and wires soldered together, short wire run as well. Did not want to hard wire direct to the fridge so it did not void the warranty as it is only a month old.
This unit will not be moved around as from one vehicle to another so hard wired is best, thanks for the heads up!
