Looking for creative solutions.

I sent the HOA a photo of a regular camper van without any obtrusive acoutraments. They said it would be OK as long as no one complained.

Then I sent a picture of a Winnebago Roam that looked identical, but had a wheelchair lift built in under the chassis. They said it would be approved without conditions. I mentioned my wife is mobility challenged.

The bylaws state vans and campers are not allowed but the order of words do not clearly indicate which in the list is subject to a modifier, such as camper, van, or camper van, or van that doesn't necessarily look like a camper.

But they apparently make exceptions for vans that may assist the disabled.

Thoughts?

Your first move if your wife is mobility challenged is to get your doctor to do the paperwork for an official handicapped declaration for handicapped parking space permits to have in a vehicle . Then you can talk to the HOA board and get a letter of parking exemption for the van if that is the vehicle you need to transport her.

Don’t play runaround games with the HOA just so you can park a van out front of your house. There are logical steps for how to do this that protects them and you. There really is a Win/Win approach. If you need a handicapped license plate for the van then legally get one of those as well.

She has that. I don't think it is an automatic free pass to a 21' can in the driveway. But if it is, great and thanks for the tip.
