I picked up speed squares as recommended by HDS and others.
Here is a YT video (that I found) from one of my fav YTers - on speed squares (for dummies/beginners):

A really useful video. I gave her a thumb up.

Along with the mentioned above, you'll also need at minimum... a sanding block with a couple of grades of sandpaper or a powered hand held sander. This is to keep things neat, AND to keep splinters down to a minimum. I would also suggest a metal straight edge (4' in length), locking tape measure, wire cutting pliers, electrical wire stripper/crimping tool, a hammer, level, and a box of band-aids!

The speed square looks like a cool tool. I'm having most of the straight cuts done at Home Depot. I bought 4 pieces of plywood and now have a bed base for me- a desk, a counter, the flooring pieces that need the wheel well and gas space cut out, and several extra pieces. Im going to the legs for everything bought and cut this week sometime. If the wind ever dies down, I'll get some cutting, gluing, and screwing things together done soon. I am a bit leery about it all- using the drill and jigsaw for the first time, but I'll do what I have to do...

Valerie - I wish I was there helping or at least watching and learn. Please give updates.
