Where do you live when your rig is in the shop?

OK, this newbie has her first question:

Even for minor things, sometimes you have to drop off an RV with an engine for maintenance or repairs. What do you do in that case?

Other than sightseeing, what do you do for a whole day? More than a day? With animals (my cats really don't want to be out and about)?

Only time we had something like this happen was with the truck and trailer combo. Trailer needed a new AC, so we dropped it off at the shop and took the truck (with the two dogs) to a coffee shop for the six hours it took them to do the repair.

With the van, we continue to stay in the van while I do all work on it myself. No need for a shop with some basic knowledge on auto repair. If push came to shove however, I would just pickup a hotel room for the couple days. A mini-vacation as it where

I usually hang out at the shop waiting area, with the dog, walking her periodically and reading while I wait.

I have on several occasions spent the night on repair shop premises.

If it's just the same day for minor stuff, I can hang out in the waiting room with my Kindle or laptop or find a coffee shop.

I needed major engine repairs a couple of times while I was driving a Class A - both times the repair shops graciously allowed me to stay in the RV on the lot. Heck one set me up with the hose and an extension cord and when they found out it was my birthday, brought in pizza and beer.

While I'd rather stay in the vehicle and not have to deal with a motel room, it's always an option if nothing else suits.
