Many of you say something like, "where I am", "Out my front door", etc, without naming even a general area or location. As I read many of the posts, I often wish you'd be more specific, such as, Storm warnings in Jacksonville FL area for the next few days, forest fire near Hattiesburg, Mississippi, south central MI, or 100mi east of San Diego, or something more than "northwest, or southwest, etc. No need for exact location, but at least a state name and general area: southeast Colorado, northeast Utah, central Florida, Texas panhandle, etc, or a park WITH state name and location, central, s, e, w, n, or general distance from a town/state name ie 30 miles north of Yuma, when you might actually be 20, or 35 instead. Or campground. What the heck TOWN is that campground near?
Or that museum in? GPS coordinates do not help me at all.
Anza-Borrego Desert State Park is the second largest state park in the contiguous United States -
WHAT PART OF WHAT STATE IS IT IN?

Even here in AZ, it helps if you name the town and area--parker, west central AZ, on colorado river, or something, please.  :shy:
Thank you.

You mean Sommmmme wherrrrrreeeee outttttt therrrrrre beneath the clear blue skyyyyy doesn't cut it?

It depends. Some places should be kept secret and off the internet, some places are appropriate for sharing. Some people want the privacy some do not. Personally sometimes I want privacy, sometimes no.

I didn't ask for specific place/milepost campground, even I wouldn't post specifics. Unless you're eluding in-laws, outlaws, or leos giving a state name and general area shouldn't be a problem for even the shyest hermits among us, IMO, and it would help me to decide whether I want to add that location to my itinerary this or next year, or not at all. Esp if you are leaving, or have left, and don't plan to return for many months.

And sometimes, the area affected, such as my recent storm warning, covers MANY states. Listing each individually is patently ridiculous.
As the "area of effect" grows smaller, we can reduce our listing size.

I used to target nuclear missiles so for all my old buddies still doing that Bullfrog Utah. So remote my old GPS couldn't find it!

I would just suppose that if someone isn't being specific, that they are entitled to their privacy. If I had a burning to desire to know where they are, I would send a pm and see if they might want to share specifics with me. It is always wise to be guarded on the internet as to too many details. A little here and there can add up. It takes much less info than one would think to find someone if they want to in the first place these days. On youtube I have noticed some protect their locations except when they are with a group, showing video after they have left a specific area. I certainly don't blame them.

I know what you mean! I often do a Google search if I'm interested in a place that's mention on the forums or somebody's blog. A few times I've contacted the person to get more information.  GPS co-ordinates are helpful even if you don't have a GPS. Just copy, paste and the location with pop up on a Google map.

I've puzzled about how much of this type of information to put on my blog. I try to keep the posts short but at the bottom of each post I have a link to a website for whatever the post is about. I'm also adding clickable GPS links at the bottom of each post plus each post has a map of the state with a little dot marking the location. Clicking on the map opens a larger map with the location pin pointed. Not all of the posts have a GPS link and not all of the larger maps open to the correct location but I'm adding that information as I get the time.

I just left Circus Circus Casino's back parking lot in Las Vegas, where I spent the night in my van. I was between a brown Ford Explorer with Washington license plates and a tan Subaru Outback with California plates. Currently going to Red Rock Park for the day and then on to San Diego's Dog Beach area. Just making it easier for my stalkers. :)

I just read a post about a storm in the South East. That sure covers a lot of area. I have friends currently in the outer banks. Should I be concerned?
I don't think saying what State or States are effected would give too much information away to anybody's stalkers !!

I'm at the bottom of a well. Someone lower the bucket[RELIEVED FACE]

I split time between Orange County, CA and Mohave Valley, AZ. the only reason I am in OC is work. less than 2 years to go and I am out of here and on the road full time. highdesertranger

Iggy, you may want to take a drive up to Mt. Charleston while you're in the area. A beautiful, peaceful place if you haven't already been there. Enjoy your visit to Red Rock, it's beautiful there!

I'm in Garwood Texas, In the lot that looks like a junk yard

I'm in the beautiful part of the Northside of Ft Worth Overlooking a freeway, one, count'em one, tree, in a luxurious suite. Not.

I'm in a sticks and bricks (sans brick so I guess i'm just in a sticks?) in Sanford, Me. Sanford isn't anything special, but I think Maine has some very special spots. Waiting for the last 6" of snow on the ground to disappear so I can get this project back on track.

Syracuse, NY. If someone wants to do me harm, my basement apt is like fort knox

North East of Raleigh NC. Looking forward to some serious storms in the next day or so.

If anyone wants a place to park, a shower and to do some laundry send me a PM. While I'm still in S&B's I've got space, could use some company, and help with my build.

I'm in Sioux Falls, South Dakota and in my van. However, I'm parked in my daughter's driveway. :D

I'm also getting ready to leave here in a few days since my seasonal job at Yellowstone National Park starts April 17th. Can't wait, either! Looking forward to seeing the park since I have never been there before. :D
