Spent the Winter in Florida - smart move! Hanging out in Virginia right now, but need to be in Massachusetts in two weeks. Still having overnight temperatures in the low 40s up there!

Thinking of chilling out this summer in Maine.

Nowhere. Got a camper to finish by September. I plan on going places this winter! - Spiff

By July 1, I will be out of my rental. My landlord is panicking, as I have spent the past 5 years working for him. He is slamming me with jobs while I am here. (Apparently it is not easy to find someone that will ignore $500,000 in jewelry while working.) I should have a good road stake to run on. Right now I am selling all my junk on eBay, and pouring that money into repairs on the mechanical. I have the front suspension system replaced, and the steering box is next. Then I finalize the interior with carpet, fridge and counter. Last thing before I leave is the batteries.

My kids will be moved in together in a college town with lots of work. My youngest is graduating in two weeks!!! I will be heading West out of Missouri to meet my internet friends. Three stops in Kansas, and on to Colorado, then down to AZ to pick up the solar panels to complete my system. Old 66 into California, and then about 6 stops in that area, including Disneyland with my nephew and his autistic son. From what I have seen, that young boy will get a real kick out of showing me Disneyland. (The Magic Kingdom through the eyes of a 7 year old autistic child!!! I am looking forward to that the most.

I will visit a lot of relatives and ex wife #1 in Southern Ca. I have some paintings she left behind, and that is as good a reason to say "Hi" after 30 years as any. Up along the coast to SF, then inland to the Napa Valley. I will set up a job, then travel to Clear Lake and drop off a load of stuff for ex wife #2. I will visit with some of my relatives, and do some repairs on her parents house, then back to Napa for the custom tile job.

Back to the coast and up Highway 1 to visit more friends, and more relatives in Oregon. I will continue up the coast to Washington to visit another friend , then I will head East. I have a party to be at in Moab in late August. (Or is it September?) I will be driving around seeing the country, meeting people, and my old cat and I will be getting a lot of rest from the world.

Come winter, I will more than likely have a caretaking position in N. Ca from my contacts there.

After 30 years of raising children, it is my turn to stretch my legs and see what I have missed. Next spring I will be heading East, as I have a couple ladies that are wanting me to drop by.

My summer resolutions...

1)Lose 20 pounds (leftover from New Years)
2)Get van in tiptop mechanical shape
3)Paint the passengers side to match the drivers and finally get the darned ICE CREAM TRUCK and CAUTION CHILDREN decals off the fiberglass top.
4) Paint and finish the interior cabinets.

All this along with assorted arts and crafts, dozens of hayrides, getting covered in chocolate pudding, tie dying t-shirts, lots of treasure hunts and trying to entertain from 12 to 40 children who visit this busy campground every weekend. Then on to Amazon for the holiday season.

This August I will be up north in Wa. I hope by then I'll have the 4wd system working in me van.

highdesertranger, do you have a claim in NV? I was surprised to learn that NV is the #1 gold-producing state in the nation. Hopefully you can get a bunch of it!
Bob

I'll be spending the summer working at one of the hotels in Glacier National Park. I visited last year and can't wait to get back. I'll be hiking every chance I get from June to September. Anyone else working there this summer by a chance?

I am going to a few local three days of love and music events.

Then a shakedown cruise of 400 miles (RT) to Wildwood NJ for the car show in September (too hot and humid in high summer w/o AC).

If you have a handicap placard you can park/camp at a non-metered parking spot right next to the boardwalk.

Just make sure to move to another spot every night to comply with the law.

I am back in Cottonwood AZ, after 3 weeks at the Grand Canyon to Thaw out my old bones. Mr. Pico and I are making a giant circle, leaving here next week...stop by, and say, Hello to Bob in Flagstaff, but not spend a cold night, and then heading on a slow trip into New Mexico and up to Denver and the Rocky Mountains. Then Wyoming and Yellowstone and will be in Eagle, Idaho on June 28th, the beginning of Ramadan, and visit with my Sister for two weeks. My sister and her family are traditionalists, and me...not so much. Then North up into Washington State. We will hang out in the Northwest until it gets really warm and then head back, slowly to Arizona and Williams. I have already checked out that spot for camping, thanks to a map from Bob. We will anxiously wait for a signal from Mother Nature that says..."Head to Quartzite!" and spend next Winter in 'Paradise". The Imperial Valley, Yuma area and Quartzite! My favorite places on the Planet!

hey bob, no Nevada claim yet. still have the one in Oregon. I have been scouting around Nevada for the last 2 years. I have some good leads and have permission to prospect on a few other claims. met some great people. anyhow I am always looking for new ground. highdesertranger

I am working in Cooper Landing, Alaska this summer. Got here about 20 days ago and still waiting for spring to happen!! lol... I traded in my converted box truck before flying here and have just purchased my first van - a 1995 G30. Got the water pump and belt replaced and now will be traveling the peninsula on my days off. Bob if you come thru this area I would love to meet you. If not, maybe I will see you in the desert this winter.

Going to Las Vegas, NV tomorrow for 1 week to see my mother and then back to work in northern NV. I am thinking of going back to Las Vegas at the end of summer and stay for the winter.

Peaceful soul , let us know what you think after downsizing . Do you like your more compact way of life ?

spirituallifetime where do you work in northern Nevada? you don't have to be specific if you don't want to. I am just curious. I love northern Nevada. highdesertranger

I've spent a couple winters in Pahrump, NV which is 60 miles due west of LV. Very cold and very windy, I don't recommend it. Parhump is very easy to stay in with tons of BLM and county land to camp on very close to town.

I work for a trucking company serving the gold mines. Here in parts of northern NV it can get very cold -20 in Dec, Jan. Can snow until late may sometimes. Summers aren't to bad nights are cool and days can be hot with out shade. I usually prefer to sleep outside in a tent in the summer. However this winter I maybe taking care of my mother in Las Vegas, so I will have to get a job there.

We missed seeing you in Winnemucca last spring since your 100' tractor/trailers wouldn't work for Pilot nearest WalMart. Catching up with you in LV wouldn't be out of the question sometime.
We'd enjoy meeting you.
