So small background first, I've just turned 23, 6ft 4" tall, male, from Ireland and moving to Australia(melbourne to start) in 3 weeks. Want to get into vanlife over there and tour up the east coast. Have a small budget to do so.

From my research I am aiming for either a toyota hiace/ mitsubishi delica/ nissan nv 350 type of van OR more of a micro van like the volkswagon caddy/ berlingo/ kangoo type of van.

  • Am I too tall for the micro vans?
  • Is the gas millage you would get out a small van worth the loss of space?
  • What fuel type should I get for Australia? Petrol or Diesel?
  • How much should I budget for buying a van there?
  • Would I be better off buying a van already fitted out? there seems to be plenty of toyota hiaces already fitted out
  • How many kilometers on the odometer is too many when buying second hand?
Thats all I can thing of at the moment, my priority is getting as good a vehicle as I can so I can have a good foundation to "build on". Thanks
