I am looking to mount a house battery on the exterior of my Ford E350. While looking underneath to plan this out I notice a black plastic box on a shelf. It seems to be empty. It has a pair of wires running to it. too small to be battery terminals. &nbsp; The bx it self also seems to be too small for a full size battery.&nbsp;<div><br></div><div>I went thru the Chiltons Manual and cant find it.&nbsp;</div><div>What is this box? Is it for a trailer battery? &nbsp;</div><div><br></div><div>It is below the passenger door. IF possible Id like to use this shelf and/or box for a second battery.&nbsp;</div><div><br></div><div>&nbsp;Soon as I get out of a snow drift I'll be taking it apart.</div><div><br></div><div>Any help is appreciated!</div><div><br></div><div><br></div>

Hmmm, not sure. My gmc 1 ton doesn't have it.... Just be careful. You aren't wanted by the mob, are you.......?

Yeah.... good question maybe its an alien tracking device.... They want their probe back.......<div><br></div><div><br></div>

LOL best bet is that it is a stash area for illegal drugs... And the dealers are waiting for the snow to melt to come claim what is theirs... <br><br>Or there was an attempt on your life that went bad, and now the black box with wires is full of dynamite all wired up... Just a heads up... <img src="/images/boards/smilies/smile.gif" border="0" align="absmiddle"><br>

&nbsp;Hey scorpio125,<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; I too have an E 350, that box is not a "stock" part. However there is room in that area for a battery box. I'd rather keep my house battery away from the cold but I would imagine that your box may have previously been used for that purpose. Seems easy enough to unbolt and check, let us know what ya find. <br>&nbsp;&nbsp; If this is a California truck maybe its some anti pollution canister--something I know nothing about.<br>&nbsp;&nbsp; Good luck .....<br><br>

<p>Maybe&nbsp;a place to stash Gold?&nbsp; Our money&nbsp;has no value anymore so fill it with&nbsp;this commodity that has value.&nbsp; If any space left over...use Diamonds.&nbsp; But don't tell anybody.</p>

I would suggest putting that battery inside, in a battery box... I know about the over exaggerated scare about gasses, the truth is gas is only made when the battery is being over charged... I have had 2 12V deep cells and a 12V mega 8D battery in my van for over 1 year now and never had a problem... Just crack a window, open a window or open a vent if you are worried... Remember you need to service the battery(s), that mean's having access to it/them...<br>
