We're from Texas where BBQ is king and had some really good ribs in Quartzsite.

Would you mind telling us where? I am from Texas, also, and I have yet to come by any truly good barbecue in this state. I would like it to be a luxury I allow myself.
Along with chocolate.

Pizza.

In Q a hot fresh Silly Al's pizza with a cold beer!

That and In~N~Out burgers.  :p

3 hours of soaking, herbal sauna, a salt nap, and soaking with jacuzzi followed with a full-body Korean body scrub. Oh, and then hot Korean soup for lunch. Cost? Approx. $130.00 w/tip for scrub.
How I feel afterward? Priceless!

Have you ever been to the Calistoga Spa town?  Spa treatments, Napa Valley wine tasting, and world class comfort food all within walking distance.   I am not sure what the packages go for now.  Some places are quite expensive now.

I don't remember the name of the place.  It is on 95 just North of Main St. (~1 block, 2 at the most) on the left. They fill propane tanks just behind it and there is a water dispenser to the right of it if you are facing it.  Small place painted white with an outdoor dining area in front.  There is a vending trailer right next to it on the right.  We had ribs 4 times while we were in Q.  They smoke the ribs in oak, not mesquite but still tasty.  Two sauces, hot and regular, both on the sweet side (which we prefer).

X2 on chocolate!  I am the choco-holic.

Would love to visit CA Wine Country someday.....but right now we are saving for our van (yay!) so that's not going to happen in the near future. Have visited Sausalito-that's as far north coming from the south I've been.
Those spas you listed looked nice, thank you for the links - however, not so sure about those mud baths. Do you know if they change the mud after people (couples) use it? Yep, my mind did go "there"! ;)

8,000 LBS of mud X 10 people a day per tub.  X 80 tubs in the Spas.

The water comes out of the ground at 220+ degrees.  The tubs are sterilized for 30 minutes an hour by the mineral water.  They have to be cooled for the customers.  If someone has an accident, they shovel the tubs and replace the mud.  Every place has a proprietary blend of mud, ranging from 100% volcanic dirt, to peat moss and potters clay.

Napa Valley has become a zoo from when I lived there.  $$$   I much prefer the counties North.  Lake, Mendocino, Humboldt. It is best to not stray off of pavement in the back woods until after Halloween harvest.

I keep looking at the title to this thread and thinking about how I figure I live in the lap of luxury every day!

I allow myself all the luxury I want!

I have a comfortable bed, good refrigeration to keep all my favorite foods cold, a toilet that never smells and doesn't need chemicals (or dump fees), lights that turn on (thanks to Mark for his help) and I can move my home anywhere I want to go! Also a warm shower whenever I want

There is not much that I could want for and even those are being solved one by one!

Yep, I live in the lap of luxury!

Oh, and we had peach pie for desert tonight.... :p while sitting on a pretty lakeshore watching the bats, the stars and the neighbors campfires!

I live about 30 minutes from Napa and have friends that live in Calistoga. It is a dang zoo at times. You just have to know when, where and be ready to say what the hell, I'm in.
