Many of us here are fugal by necessity or by inclination.  But no matter how frugal you are, you should always allow yourself something you consider a luxury even if it is small.

So what is the best thing you could do without but you allow yourself as a luxury?

Mine is a shower twice a month at a local truck stop.... I live in a 5th wheel and RV showers are just basically about getting clean.... But the hot water never runs out at the truck stop :p

Custard (when I can find it)
Blue Bell Ice Cream (when I can find it)
Any ice cream
Chocolate

Quality fresh organic real food,no boxed/canned but frozen veggies are ok

Good beer.
Or sometimes a proportional expenditure of bad beer.

My own toilet & shower...

I have that too... but my shower is limited to 6 gallons. To me it's a luxury to be able to stand under the water till I turn into a prune :p

Two peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, on toasted white bread, washed down with Campbell's Bean with Bacon Soup, and a large cold glass of whole milk.

Substitute whole wheat for white, Campbell's with a store brand, and whole milk for skim and it is still a luxury I rarely allow myself.

That is a necessity, not a luxury  LOL

Actually, I agree totally!  But I keep seeing posts about public toilets & gym showers...  YUCK!

I have lots of luxuries, but I wanted to get those on the list.

Though I'm not a dweller, just a dreamer, I don't care if it's a toilet and a shower in a tent next to the rig! I want it! Then every once in a while an over-nighter in a park with showers.

Ever see those photos of the monkeys sitting in the volcanic heated pools? That would be me with a big grin on my face!..........except for touching myself on a hot rock part. That's not cool.

A good bottle of whiskey, even if by "good" I mean bottom shelf Irish like Jameson or Bushmills. Tullamore Dew is my favorite at the moment at $28 a bottle. I try to get a bottle every other month if not every if I have the money to spare and always try the lesser known names when I see them.

I think I'm overdue for a bottle. time to check by bank and run some numbers.

Another luxury I recently invested in, after years with no TV service was an antenna. The new X files have made me feel better about dropping the cash on it. And since I do have it I might fire it up, flip through the channels, decide there's nothing worth my time and amp hours on then shut it off and do something productive. Okay that's one luxury I can definitely live without.

I'm pretty frugal in most things. But, if I want to eat out, I eat out.

I'm not much on sweets but if I was in Colorado I'd probably splurge on some brownies now and then.

Guy

Hey, we have brownies in Washington, too! :D

When I'm on the road, I allow myself very few luxuries. My SUV is a luxury model though, with automatic windows and headlights and locks and dimming rear view mirror and CD player and four wheel drive and more.

I haven't eaten out in a while, especially not lately in the overpriced restaurants of California or the bland eateries of Arizona.
If you want to call me on my cell phone, you're paying.
Free WiFi is everywhere, and my five year old laptop has not broken down yet.
I'm not gonna spend a day's worth of gasoline on a couple beers.
If I chased the ladies, I would be stuck working a lousy job to finance such endeavors. No more winter wanderings.
Similarly if I hunted or shot at clay pigeons. I've bought five dollars of ammo in the past four months.

My life is more interesting than many millions of Americans who spend far more than I do. It can be dull spending the evenings meditating or reading rather than partying downtown, but it is even duller spending the week working at a nine two five instead of enjoying the freedom of the road and meeting many weird and wonderful people.
