Narrow back roads like this, lined with their desert plants -- palo verde, mesquite, cholla, prickly pear, jojoba, creosote -- softly whisper my name.  They bid me to come peek at what's around the bend, saying they have secrets to tell.

Eastern Sierras for the month of July. I’m in the boondocking area just off of Owens River Road near Mammoth Lakes and Yosemite. This is my favorite place on the planet. This always feels like home.
