The tech chief of Toyota has said Toyota sees no profit in a diesel truck (or van) in America.  If they can't do it you can bet Nissan won't.  So the Big Three have the diesel market sewed up.
I personally would love to see diesels become more popular ( and cheaper!).

You can say thanks to Ronald Reagan for that.. He added tax on diesel fuel as well as well as put all kinda of import taxes on anything not "the big three". Prior to this Nissan, Toyota, VW vans... ect imported diesels to the US, all those things stopped in the 80's. Reagan killed that for the US market, because the big three kept pumping out crap cars that no one wanted so he bailed them out by making imports cost much more which in turn reduced the variety which was imported.

I love the new smaller vans and will probably have one at some point in my van dwelling adventures. The NV200, old and new Ford Transit Connect, Ram C/V Tradesman and ProMaster City -- all will be under consideration for purchase... in about 10-15 years, once they've depreciated to cash affordability for me.

Those things are not gonna last 15 years... :s

Nissan/Toyota plan to offer a Cummins 5.0L diesel V8 next year in the Titan/Tundra. This is the engine originally slated for the RAM 1500 Diesel which instead got the Fiat/GM owned Moto Vitori 3.0L V6 that is also slated for the GM Full Size trucks.
