Books are good to have along.

That's what I was wondering if books for a Kindle would be better for reading.

Some people like Kindle, but we're sorta old school and like books. We look for places to trade, like senior centers. A lot of RV parks have book trade in their rec rooms. Stop by the office and usually they will allow you to swap some books.
We also carry about 15-20 DVDs to watch on laptop and trade with other travelers.
There's often a lot of "lax time", so make sure you have something that interests you whether its reading, watching, or a hobby.

No fun being bored while sitting out a storm in a small space.

Comfort items when on the road -- First is my comfy bed under a down comforter, second is my 12v mug for warm tea or coffee, third is Internet access to stay in touch with family and friends.

no doubt there!!

I don't travel anywhere without my headlamp.

I usually have acouple books, and I also never leave home without a drawing pad and a notepad.

YES, I'm an artist, so I'm always drawing...but I'm also constantly jotting down ideas for either my next painting, a new way to fix up my rig, or plans for a better mousetrap. (which is another reason why I love my headlamp...'cause I can keep on working long after it gets dark.)

I'm kindof creatively ADD...I'm continously working on something, building this or that, or designing something...so I rarely sit still for very long. (you'll see!)

oh...I also never travel without my axe and firepoker. (even on my motorcycle.)

comfort??? I'd feel naked without this stuff! :p

food,water,clothing,shelter if available.

I can travel stocked with all the paraphernalia necessary for an extended stay or I can travel fast and light with only pillow, blanket & clothes. But anyway I travel I have to have my electronics bag.

Think large ladies canvas shoulder bag, it contains, a Netbook, 10 inch nextbook tablet, wireless mouse, 8-10 16gb sd cards, Mobile wifi, digital camera, cell phone, lighter inverter & necessary chargers and cables. This contains all of the entertainment I will ever need.

The netbook acts as computer central for the tablet if I want to add something to it via SD card, or I can play one of the approximately 100 games I have on it. Also if I want to use the net on an actual computer and not the tablet. (I hate typing on a tablet)

The tablet is the main event... I can surf the net by using my mobile wifi, listen to music, watch one of the 50 movies that I loaded to SD cards, read one of the 1000 books I have loaded to it, or play one of the dozen games. I also have a program that turns it into a flashlight.

The mouse is because I dislike touch pad mice.

Mobile wifi for internet anywhere that gets a Sprint signal.

And lighter inverter to keep all of that charged.....all in one neat, grab and go bag.

My pocket knife, Gerber MultiTool, sunglasses and a Bic lighter!

Without the above stuff I feel naked and unprepared.

Corky

Maps, maps and MAPS!!!!!!!

A compressor fridge. I need to keep my milk fresh. I drink much more milk than I do water. Can go without food, but not without my milk.

Everything else I carry follows on from those.

Lifey

A Froli Sleep System topped with a gel foam mattress topper. (we have one in our Van Conversion and our full time live aboard 38ft 5th wheel).

Kindle Paperwhite loaded with good reads

Galaxy 10" Tablet for watching movies during chill time w/my wife

Bear Spray...OK not for comfort...but having it might mean the difference between being comfortable in our Van's bed at night...or a hospital bed!
