I have two brand new Duracell 6 volt batteries that have been hooked up to a Powermax 3 stage charger for over 24 hours now. Have only used the batteries briefly for 12 volt lighting. I’m not seeing over 12.28v on multimeter. Is this normal?

That seems low to me. Check everything (fuses, connectors, etc) and make sure the charger is working. Is the charger warm to the touch?

No, this is not normal.  Do you know if there is any charging current?  12.28 is too low to be useful for charging.  If there is substantial charging current (more than 1 amp) and only 12.28 volts the batteries may need something like a high voltage equalize to get the batteries going again.  The charger should be putting out nearly its rated current at 12.28 volts.

I figured it out.
Can’t tell you how much time I’ve spent going over everything. I had the charger leads on the wrong terminals. Not reversed but on the wrong positive and negative terminals.

This build has been a great learning experience for me. Having ruined my first set of batteries and charger, I feel like I have reached a milestone! Luckily everything was still under warranty!
