Okay, I'm gonna try this again. My name is randy. I have been following Bob's sites and several other for a couple of years and building my van during that time. My plan is to hit the road asap. Problem is I bought my home at the peak of the market, put a lot of blood, sweat and tears and a fair amount of cash in to fixing it up. I just can't bare to lose money on it. Funny, I've been told all my life to buy a home because real estate was the best investment. The two times I've done it I get screwed! Go figure! Anyway, my rig is 99% done and I want to hit the road. Right now I'm in and out just doing short trips. I hope to be vandwelling full time by the end of the year and I really want to attend the RTR.
If any one wants to visit the Middle TN area, I will offer a free place to plug in and chill out for a week or two. Its a beautiful country setting. Two miles from a lake and hiking trails. Five miles from town. Fifteen miles from Nashville. I just want to meet people who share the same interests as me and learn from their knowledge and traveling experiences.

Try again? Did we miss you before? I was through Nashville a few months back. Would have loved a place to land. If I pass that way before you are gone, I'll give you a holler. Otherwise, maybe I'll catch you on the west coast!

Welcome.

Real estate was a good investment, and probably will be again, but it's like the stock market: timing makes the difference, and you have to be in it for the long haul.

How about some photos of your van?

Wish you could have made the Ky GTG, and i know of another comming up in oct ( pig roast) in cherokee natl forest in eastern tn. Mabye worth comming out to meet a few of us for the weekend? And f.w.i.w, i'm in the same boat with a house on the market in upstate ny.

Thanks for all the "welcomes" everyone! I call my van the "Vanaroo". Its an extended '86 Ford e250 that I have pretty much rebuilt entirely. I put in a sink, counter, water heater, tiny shower, tv, and twin bed that folds up to the wall. Still working out a few bugs. Took a short trip to east TN this weekend and found out my brand new transmission has a small leak. Luckily it has a warranty.

Hope to see you on the road and don't forget to give me a shout when in mid TN area
