Vagabound,
Looks like you made a wise AND smart choice. This place will be much warmer then where you have lived in the past. I will look forward to see how you work that into the build.
Congratulations!,

Hey, keep your hands off my mud flap!  ;-)  I was in such a hurry to post the photo before my hasty departure from Phoenix that I didn't even notice.  Very funny!

Finally came to a rest and had time to check this thread.  Been looking forward to that all day.  Thanks everyone for all the well-wishes.  Got some new power tools.  Charged the batteries.  Time for graph paper and a some hot chocolate!

Congrats on finding what you were looking for. I had no ideal finding something like that was so hard here in PHX. Go figure. BTW, with the exception of two years in Maine in the late 90's, I've lived here since 1972 and don't have a tattoo...

Thanks. Congratulations on over 40 years of successful escape and evasion. :)

WTG A tad big for me, but to each their own choice and may they all be happy with them.

All things being equal, I would have preferred something smaller also.  The problem is, due to the laws of physics, it's hard to buy something that is the size of a VW bug on the outside, and a gymnasium on the inside.  It was the smallest vehicle that had the right interior box dimensions.  Pushed me just over the 10K lbs weight limit, which I tried to avoid, but I'll just have to deal with it.  So far, no highway inspection places have bugged me and insurance was a breeze.  Next is DMV registration.

Congrats Vagabound on getting your vehicle. I started reading your truck-searching odyssey a couple of weeks ago so I am glad you finally found what you were looking for in the end.

I also plan on getting a box truck at some point. Some people say getting insured is a hassle but you say you had no problems; do you mind if I ask which insurance company you are using? Will it be registered as a commercial vehicle or an RV?

Also, when you get a chance, I would be curious to know what mpg you are getting.

Thanks, Bonobo.  I'm happy that that major first stage is done also.

Insurance:  Mine requires you to be military or prior military.  If that applies to you, PM me for details.

Registered?  By that I think you mean, will it be "insured" as commercial or RV, etc?  If so, it is insured as my personal vehicle.  Nothing more or less.  If you really mean "registered", as in, with the DMV, I don't know yet because I'm not done with that process.  I currently have a 90-day non-resident tag from Arizona.  Before that expires, I'll need to register it somewhere else.

MPG:  Not much.  Between 8 and 10 mpg.  Worse than I imagined.  However, I guess it is on par with RVs and bus conversions.  I'll combat it not by driving more conservatively (I have cruise control, and it didn't help much).  I'll do it by driving less totally.  I'm going to get a small motorcycle or scooter to put on the back, and I'll use that for 90% of my daily travel needs.  I'll only drive the truck when I need to relocate it/me.
