Van Living in Manhattan

So the New York Post had an article today about a guy living in a van on the Upper West Side of Manhattan.

It's pretty basic. He uses a 5 gal pail as a toilet. He says he's been living this way for a year.

But here's the "Only in New York" kicker. It's a $45,000 Mercedes Van, and he's been trying to buy an apartment in that neighborhood, but can't find anything he likes for the $500,000 dollars he wants to spend!

I'd say he's got his priorities messed up, but if a half-million dollar cigarbox in the middle of NYC <shudder....> is what he wants, more power to him.

In my view, a total waste of good bucks. Not only the half mil cigar box, but a $45K van that sits on city streets for a year.
I guess it takes all kinds to make the world go 'round :s

Some people likes the city, you can't fault them for that. $500,000 condo in Manhattan is pretty cheap and will only appreciate.

WOW! If I ever ran into him in Manhattan I would tell him to take his $45k van and his down payment for a condo and hit the road! Travel this country and get out of the city lol! Is he aware of the possibilities I wonder??
