van dwelling in the UK?

since i've rented my house out long term i'm thinking about the next few year.

this year i'm touring the west of course (lots of posts about that already) but i'm wondering about next year in the UK and europe?

i'm English so its easy for me and i know i can get my wife a 6 month visa for UK and 3 month for eurozone, we've been there before (but not in a van).

i know there are free camping spots along the side of the road in France but don't know much else about it. i think its actually quite hard to find free camping in the UK since they had a problem a few years ago with so called 'new age travelers' a.k.a the great unwashed.

anyhow, just wondering if anyone on this forum has ever tried van dwelling in UK and Europe?

my brother has a canal boat in the UK, but he uses it in the summer or i'd just use that. but i think they maybe allow some tent camping along side the canals. anyhow, something to think about.

there was a guy on here a few years back that was living full time in the UK, some kind of writer he had a home made wood stove and talked about that a bit along with how to earn money with writing, so if you do a search on here for wood stoves you will likely find his users name then you can try PM ing him to see if he is still around or look up some of his post or his intro, he was hardcore and would have a lot of knowledge about the UK.

just read it, looks like you can get away with a few nights of stealthy parking but not sure you could do US style 'official' boondocking where you can legally park up for 14 days or whatever and make a bit of a home for yourself.

An idea for the UK Raw folks could be producing a documentary about UK Soccer Hooligans, who also enjoy the minimalist RV lifestyle when not creating mayhem and pandemonium.
