Upgrading Cargo Trailer Tires

I read somewhere that trailer tires are bad and should be upgraded for off-roading.  Is this true and, if so, what do I buy that won't leave me stranded?   I don't drive irresponsibly but would like something that I can trust in difficult terrain.

I will be flipping the axles for extra clearance.  I tried to get that done when I bought the trailer, but the dealer didn't have the correct parts in stock.

ST trailer tires tend to be cheaper imported tires, generally speaking, and are usually found on cargo trailers and towable RVs as supplied from the factory.

Depending on the size, you MAY be able to upgrade to LT tires in a heavy enough weight rating and proper size, of course. 

In some cases, the tire dealers will not mount the tires on the wheels unless you bring in the tire/wheel combo, already off the trailer. Liability issues, they will say.

I have never seen a trailer tire(ST) that can last off road. I have been told all kind of lies by dealers about trailer tires. don't believe them.

I like load range "E" LT tires.

BTW, although it's a common term "flip the axles", you don't actually flip the axle. you change it from spring under to spring over. DO NOT flip your axle.

I did that. [emoji23]. It was a solid, square tube, drop axle. Had me dragging on everything.

It was really hard on the springs and changed the angle of the wheels. Now it tracks pretty bad, but it has other issues as well when it comes to tracking.
Some day I'll get a straight axle under it.
