Unlimited DATA - SPRINT TMOBILE etc

Okay starting a new thread--

Since Verizon and AT&T do not provide UNLIMITED DATA direct as a standard unlimited availability. We should now talk about the various resellers of SPRINT and T-MOBILE?    They may not have the coverage, but you can find unlimited data plans with them upon demand.   So maybe do some planning with boondock or stealth camp areas for a month, and tap into there devices to get all caught up with video?

You would need a tablet that can reflect the movie to a connected hdtv.  Know various Apple tablets and maybe some droid tablets can do that reflection process.

1)  have seen that METRO PCS offers unlimited data.  Are they on SPRINT or TMOBILE towers?
2)  have also seen that VIRGIN MOBILE has unlimited data, and know they are on SPRINT towers.

Keep in mind that almost every unlimited plan either does not allow tethering or has a limit on it.

Why would you need tethering if you have a phone of tablet that can connect to your hdtv or act as a computer? That's what we are thinking.

FWIW, you can tether almost any android phone or tablet, whether they "allow" it or not. Done correctly, there isn't any way for them to differentiate between normal data use and tethering.

Note that on many devices this requires rooting, which some people may not be comfortable with.

I have a Virgin phone and it is unlimited, but throttled after a few gigs. Hotspot usage is an extra $15/mo. Tethering without paying the extra may require some significant phone hacking depending on what phone you have.

The only way I found to watch video while throttled was to download shows overnight on BT, but in some locations BT was blocked completely or would only work when I was connected via 4G.

Was looking that METROPCS was running unlimited back in April this 2015 year. True unlimited. But then they shut that offer down when they were acquired-bought by TMOBILE. So it seems no one has unlimited data, though many claim to have throttled data. Even unlimited was capped at 20Gigs.

If you're in the city, it's a great option. But if you are a boondocker it's just not going to work unless you don't want a working cell or data signal. If you don't want a working cell or data signal, why are you paying for it?

x2 Bob. non of those companies work in the sticks. no coverage, zero. they only work in the cities and the bigger cities at that. if that's your thing living in big cities great more power to you. highdesertranger

Was reading that ATT caps even their unlimited plan at 23gigs monthly. This is the grandfathered unlimited plan. Effectively everyone has caps that they just don't realize. Still at 23 gigs you get ten movies on Netflix a month. So that's two times of binge watching ten episode one hour series. More TV and movies to distract the mind.

But the BIG point for most of us who camp well away from any big cities is that 30 GB or 200 GB is totally useless if you cannot pick up a signal so that you can use those gigs. You also have no signal to even use your phone.

I've lived in NM, MT and NV in the west and traveled/camped in virtually every other state out there. I use Verizon towers (now through StraightTalk). Often traveling companions used AT&T. My own experience is the same as Bob's and most other longtime boondockers: if you want the best chance at being able to connect, you need to be on Verizon towers.
