Yesterday I spent 20 min weaving a 100' extension cord through windows, under decks, sidewalk protection, etc... only to realize I did it backwards when I went to plug it in...

I used to work in a hardware store. Every Christmas season, one or two folks would come in asking for a "double-ended male electrical plug." I would respond: no, they don't make that for a good reason, go home and take your Christmas lights down and put them up in the right direction.
