Hi Bindi! We live in Forest Grove, OR but lived out of our van for several months in Oregon. Thanks for the tip re. the Safeway in Astoria. We like that area and will visit soon. Do you have a blog we can follow?

Hi there oldnjung...
We haven't blogged yet, just using this thread since we don't have very many followers. Might begin a blog sometime soon.

We found a casino we didn't know about in the town of Warm Springs. Its a small one, but its ok to park in their lot.
There's a museum across the street also. It was closed when we got there on Saturday afternoon. We left Sunday early and are now in Redmond.

We'll be heading for Bend after breakfast. Our friend has some acreage where we can hang for a while. Great area to take some side trips this summer.

I'm trying to figure out where that rv dump is. I know that area but can't pin it down. Is it next to the Best Western or the Trolley??? Thanks.

The RV dump is on the east side of Marine Drive (Best Western to the west across the road) right off the traffic circle. If you are coming into Astoria across the bridge from Warrenton you'll take the first exit off the circle and make an immediate left and then another left (before the hill) into the lane for the dump. Its actually easier to find than it is to explain.

We blew on thru Portland, as family there was busy with some stuff they had planned. We might cruise back up there before winter, but for now we're going to hang in the Bend/Redmond area.

In Bend now. The Balloon Fest is going on this weekend. Only a few balloons have been spotted early in the morning yesterday and today. The wind got a bit strong for them by 8am. Still lots of things going on downtown tho.

Bend is a little stuffy when it comes to parking overnight...gotta be sorta creative. Walmart and other places are posted and the cops will enforce local laws. Redmond, on the other hand, is more friendly in this respect. You can park at Walmart or Safeway safely, so I suspect there are lots of other places also.

Its getting about time to find a dump site here in the next few days, so we'll report on that issue later.

Hey there T&K...we ARE having a great time. Not sure when we'll head south, maybe late September and take our time, as always. We'll figure out the route we wanna take later, but thinking of Quartzite at the BLM Long Term....that is, if nothing better appears first.

Hope y'all are doing well and having a fantastic time.
How about your winter plans??

Always having a fantastic time! :) We've been staying cool up in the mountains of Colorado but we'll be in Denver for awhile because Tony has to get some dental work. We're hoping to be in Quartzsite for the winter and the RTR. Hope to see you there too!

Ugggg...Not more dental work?!?!
Look forward to seeing y'all down in Q.

We came over to Redmond for a couple days and there isn't nearly as much to do here as in Bend. On weekends Bend has all kinds of things happening.

In the town of Sisters this morning. Headed to a camp on the Metolius River up near Camp Sherman for about the next 10 days.
No cell service, no internet...just peace and fun.

BTW, Sisters has a dump station at the city park ($5). We were miffed to find that Redmond only had one dump and it was out of order.
Sometimes finding a dump site is harder than finding places to park our rig.

Wow...I didn't realize how long its been since I made an entry here. I lot of miles have passed under our wheels since July. As some of you know, we're in Quartzsite for the winter.
Really enjoyed the ghost towns in Nv and the Oregon Coast up 101...beautiful drive and fun places to stop. Drank lots of different micro-brews in the month and a half we spent around Bend. Particularly enjoyed seeing an old sailing buddy from Fla and spending a couple weeks at his cabin (in our RV) and his wonderful hospitality. Parked at another friend's land for 10 days and had a great time there. A few weeks on BLM just outside Bend and we were on our way south at a leisurely pace toward Nevada.

Friends in Fallon parked us close to electric for 10 days and we really liked the senior center there. Nice lunches and very friendly folks. Then it got down to 30 a couple nights, so it was time to bug out. Sorta slipped around the edge of Vegas (had enough of it last spring, LOL) and headed for Lake Havasu where Margie liked seeing the London Bridge without a lot of people around. Parker was just an overnight at the casino (no level parking), shopping at Wally's and on to Q.

Well, we got here about a week ago and landed a part time gig at an RV park. Nine days a month gives us a space and utilities including wifi and free laundry machines. We're enjoying the job, riding bikes around town, and having a good time looking around. Having lived most of my life in the southwest and an Az resident, I love the desert.

We'll be over at RTR as much as we can and hope to meet all of you there.

I guess this sorta closes this season's travel log after 4700 miles and nearly 8 months.
In the spring look for us across southern Az and NM before we turn north toward Colo....flexible plan at the moment, ya know :)

Everyone have a good season and stay warm....see y'all on the forums.
