Shortage of semiconductors leaves manufacturers unable to finish the vehicles and send them to the market...

One of the big problems with the "Just in time" supply method as well as importing from other countries, especially ones you are competing with! Could be worse if it were a national security issue huh.

Amazingly now, we are beginning to have a sand shortage...and sand is used in everything from concrete to glass, and that includes the silicon used in chip manufacturing....

We DO live in interesting times.

^^^Lol!!! No shortage of it here where I'm at! The wind this year has put it in a lot of places I would rather is wasn't!

I hope this isn't a dumb question but could diatomaceous earth be used rather than sand?

It depends what the application is for glass making no, for concrete maybe, again depends. Besides there is no shortage of sand only a shortage of mining it. There is more sand than there is diatomaceous earth so that really won't solve the basic problem.

Remember everything we have is either mined or grown. Can't get around it.

They forgot to mention where the chips come from.

Yeah, I think a place that start with 'Chi' and ends wit 'a'.
The plan is to start making them in the USA, like they used to make stuff in the good ol' days.

I hope this is a temporary shortage, until someone lifts their eyes from their navel and looks around.

It's not as if the USA has the USN 7th Fleet cruising in the South China Sea to harass and contain a major trading partner, and a location of US corporations' offshore manufacturing facilities.

As long as there are dollar and cents profits to be made, it doesn't have to make logical sense.

The chip shortage may be the public explanation currently, but when the manufacturers can't sell vehicles due to economic factors, they end up parked en mass along I-75, also at Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport, and any place convenient to the plants.

How has the US economy been doing in the last 16 months?

Is there plenty of discretionary money and a steady monthly income to take on a loan for a new vehicle?

Stimulus money dumps are placebos.

In case anyone else was wondering how long the trucks can stay parked at the Speedway. The answer is "quite a while".

"Kentucky Speedway is not included on the 2021 NASCAR schedule, and we want to thank all of our race fans for their past support."
