I found out one evening (it's not THAT dark a tint) from an obnoxious but turned nice officer, that if you have a perscription from an eye doc, you can have your windows tinted as dark as you like. Front and sides. I got our windows tinted 13 years before this guy pulled us over being curious about who was on his patch one night (yeah I was weaving to avoid the pot holes, people in this town do it all the time!) He told me get a perscription. I did not know about this. Then my pharmacist told me he had one, too. If you have any sort of eye problem that is made worse by too much light, get your optomatrist to perscribe in a letter that you need darkly tinted windows. Then let the DMV where you are registered have a copy of that letter, and carry it with your registration and insurance papers.
I was not cited for 'drunk driving' nor not having a front plate, or the tint, and got some useful unformation. Of course now I have to get the replaced window tinted for summer. >.<;;
