don't know where people are getting their Honda Element used car values from. The top price I have seen for a 2011 which was the last year they were made was right about 12k.
Mine is a 2006 but I only have 67k miles on it so it is worth more than average although I did get rid of the back seats.. I would not want the roof top tent for myself or at least so far I have not wanted one, but they do add value to the vehicle as they are an expensive after market item. You can still get them, the company Ursa Minor is in Oregon, they make the tent unit, do the roof opening modification and installation. Not just for the Honda Element they also do them for a few other vehicle models.
My honest opinion, A reliable car is going to cost 3500min and up
For that money, just buy a minivan. Which run about (idk out west, but around here) 4000 & up for something reliable
It just seems like the better of the two. IF, you have the option
After living in my CRV for over a year and I’m only 5’3” I’d go for a minivan. The Toyotas are always recommended but I was looking at the Dodge Caravan yesterday and it looked perfect if you take the seats out. It might be my bad back and knee or I’m more spoiled than I thought but the whole thing was tight and uncomfortable and if you have a dog it’s not great. Super cozy to sleep in but other than that not easy to dress or move around.
I always have bought new cars and driven them into the ground (used to commute an hour each way minimum plus travel) then given them away. My last one got too expensive at 15 to fix and unreliable so I don’t worry about doing what I want to them. But if you need to resell then yeah it’s different.
